Hello IMers,

I guess this is the right thread for this query.

I live in Gujarat and have never experienced temp. below 9-10 degree.

Now I am going to visit Kinnaur-Spiti from 27th April and temp. might be lower than 5 degrees.

I am going to pack 2 woolen sweaters, scarf, gloves and thermal inners.

Will 2-3 layers be sufficient to withstand temp. below 5?

Or should I buy special winter jacket for WOMEN for this?

If yes, then let me know good cheap market in Chandigarh to buy such winter jacket for WOMEN (good quality) as I am starting my journey from Chandigarh.

Any idea about shopping it online? I checked a few options online but they seem quite costly.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

I am a woman and I have been to Kinnaur-spiti in early april.
Yes, it was very cold but not really unmanageable.
I have a few sets of pure wool thermal inners(vests and tights). They are very warm and useful in such situations. In 2005 they cost about Rs 1200 a set(600 for vest + 600 for tights). I do not have experience of woolycot inners(the kinds that are normally sold as thermal inners) but they should not be too bad either, and much cheaper.

On top of these I wore normal top and trousers/jeans. Then a jacket on top. A woolen cap and a muffler and Socks and sneakers. These was enough.

The jacket was not anything special. It was a normal padded jacket.

Inside the hotels I wore a sweater in place of the jacket.

@Nayan,

Thank you very much for sharing your experience.

I am travelling end of APril-first Week of May.

Cold should not be that much of a problem seems. 2-3 layers should do for Chilly mornings and evenings when I am outside the guest house.

Thank you

Regards
