Hi everyone,
i've been reading through the threads here and get the impression that traveling in Assam and Meghalaya is more expensive than in places like HP or TN. Am i right?
I've been traveling through different parts of India in the south and HP, MP and some others and would normaly stay in GH for 200 to 500 IR. Is this also possible in Assam and Meghalaya? Or would it be more expensive? I do not need ac, a simple clean single room would be fine.
Can anyone give me some advise on this issue. Thanx in advance.

Unhappy No one?

Does no one have any up to date information about cheap Guest Houses in Assam and Meghalaya?
I'm planning to go there in about a year. Any input would be much appreciated.

I would like to travel around both states, starting in Guwahati and ending in Shilong. I am planning to use public transport, buses and shared taxis whenever possible. I'm interested in National Parks, Kaziranga and other National Parks. I would also like to see some smaller towns and villages on my way. But i will be on a budget, so paying 1000 plus IR for a night is to much.
Any recommendations whatsoever?

Hello Uncle...I know a hotel in Guwahati near rly station Paltan Bazar, where they offer Rs 400-500/- per day for single room. Service is not so good. But the hotel is relatively new. I will let you know the contact details. I remember I stayed last year. And i think, if you go for long term contract, you will get better deal.

Cheers

Thank you move on, sounds great, looking forward to hearing the details.
What do you think how are the chances of finding hotels in this price frame in other towns around Assam and Meghalaya?
