At the Hornbill-Festival-2011 a detailed 16-Page 'Programme Booklet' was distributed to all visitors.

I have scanned that into a PDF file and uploaded it on Google Docs.

If anybody is interested to see or download it go here: Hornbill-Programme-2011

"According to DoT circular No. 800-14/2011-VAS, the Prepaid mobile subscribers from other circles across India (except J&K) also can enjoy seamless Roaming in Assam & NE telecom circles."
So, it appears that pre-paid mobiles will work now.

Ha Ha, love the "Warning" KSB!!!

Just went through this now from beginning to end. Its a beautiful thread with lovely pics. Will be useful for those planning a trip in future.

The two little boys from the last lot are really cute.

Some of the lakes and mountain views remind me so much of the Nilgiris.

I saw from your Google Earth screenshot that the altitude of the lake is just 900+m, somehow I imagined that region to be higher.

The caves look scary, were they adequately lit inside and very slippery? Those leaves btw are more likely to be begonia leaves, not orchids.

Keep writing!

Thanks snonymous!

Yes, you are right the entire NE region is not very high ... may be max of 2000M at mountain tops. Still the clouds and the cold give a feel of being at much higher altitudes.

You know my knowledge of flowers & stuff is very poor. I tend to call anything 'that looks flowery, but doesn't look like a flower (to my eyes)' an "orchid".

How does it matter? The photo was very nice.

I had so many good friends from the NE in my first job. One who I kept in touch with, died suddenly a couple of years ago. She was Khasi, from Shillong. Knew her since 1979. Anyway, sorry to spoil your thread with not such nice info.
