help newbies! Assam and Arunachal trip
Hi everyone
My husand and I are newbies to india mik and first trip to India!! Have done loads of research but desperately need help with second part of our trip. We are travelling independently for first week,Delhi, Varanassi, Bodhgaya and then Kolkata - we want to spend around 14 days visiting Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. To include wildlife park (Namdapha or Kaziranga) and definite must Tawang Monastery. We are not loaded, moderate budget. Understand need a permit for Arunachal and that booking tour is best option and the whole permit a nightmare to organise. Could anyone please advise on the best way we can organise this trip?. With recommended tour operators for this part of the trip only, if you think this is best. Main issue seems to be the permit otherwise we would try and do independently.
Really hope someone out there can help.

Hello flossie and welcome to IndiaMike!
When are you planning on making this trip? Summer is not a good time as the national parks are shut.
You might like to read my Arunachal Pradesh trip report about Tawang:

In Kaziranga, I thoroughly recommend a stay at Jupuri Ghar. Apart from that, Wild Grass is highly recommended by many IndiaMikers. These two resorts are run by the same team. The latter is more expensive.
hi Theyamdancer
Thanks for info and your trip sounds amazing, not sure about the food though!! Won't mention to my husband (in case he chickens out, pardon the pun!). We are going in February 2012. How did you get your permit? We are intending to fly to Guwahati from Kolkata then Tejpur-Bomdila-Twang- Dirange-Nameria and back to Guwati and fly back to Delhi then home to UK. Well something like that.

OK, February is a good month for both Tawang and Kaziranga. We obtained our permit via the travel agent who planned our trip for us. (The details are there at the end of my trip report.)
