Hi traveling folks,

After travel Vang vieng in Laos and swimming in the famous Lagoons. I'm infatuated with swimming holes especially cliff diving. Can you people please list some of the swimming holes (clean water that means off beaten in india) that you have visited.
I'm a native of Kumaon (Uttarakhand). Hence I regularly visit it. I was hoping if someone knows a place in kumaon. But still I'll be happy if people can list swimming holes from all over India.
The one I "discovered" so far. Death valley in Asola Bhatti sanctuary, Faridabad. Near delhi border.

You find quite a few in Meghalaya as well, hidden in uncharted territories.

Well since I'm from Kumaon, I've hardly seen 2-3 wells (in plains) in my life.I was hoping for a nice waterfall where people can jump.

There are regular drownings. People forget that it may be harder to climb out than it is to jump in. Sometimes they don't even pause to consider whether they can swim or not.

Within the past week (sorry, newspaper gone now, no link) I have read of a group of three boys drowning in a disused quarry.

Seconded.

There are a few in Maharashtra - safe holes, but the moment they were known they have been polluted

Waterfalls here (in Plains) are seasonal. Menal in south rajasthan comes to mind. Near Delhi there's Pandupol inside sariska - except that it becomes a zoo when it rains as everyone shows up by the busload.

Can you name few. Are these near Bangladesh border. Last time I went to Cherrapunjee there was an extremely cheap resort which had small waterfall inside the premise.

Most of the swimming holes are the bottom of waterfalls. Here are a list of a few that I can remember of.

Thwei Sawdong falls, Lyngskiar falls, Mawkma falls, Wahrashi falls, Niriang falls, Umdingkain falls, etc etc

You can check out the link below for some waterfalls around Sohra area which have swimming holes.
