Guys

I kind of have my 3-week itinerary planned out starting in Bangalore and heading to Ooty, Munnar & Allepey. While this may sound like the standard destinations, I'm okay changing things around. However, I'm not necessarily looking for off-beat places but rather an off-beat experience. Such as staying with actual villagers in their homes or in their community and basically doing everything they do. Has anybody explored this?

Thx

This is pretty common and popular with foreigners in Ladakh. I haven't heard of it in other parts of India.

Hmm, I see references to it from time to time in Rajasthan, etc. Those seem to be guesthouse setups that may mediate the conflicts. A true village experience may be an issue. It involves a lot of learning and adjustment. For a few days its like relatives visiting, tolerable..

Are you talking about something like Friends of Orchha?
