Dear IM's

I have been introduced to this wonder of nature by one of my friend. I am planning to experiance this in April 1st week. On google search i found very interesting trek details and photos.

will share my experiance soon after i return.

Sandhan valley सांधण व्हॅली is known Wonder of nature & splendid of Sahyadri (Western Ghats). Water carved valley of 200 ft deep and about 1.5 long. Sandhan valley is located on the west side of beautiful Bhandardara region, near Samrad village. Valley surrounded with mighty Alang अलंग, Madan मदन & Kulang कुलंग (Known as AMK- toughest trek in Sahyadri) Ratangad रतनगड, Ajoba आजोबागड & Kalsubai कळसूबाई शिखर (5400 ft. highest peak in Maharashtra) mountain ranges. Brilliant & deep narrow rock floored ravine between the two high walls of mountain range. At some places its width is less than 3 ft so that at some places sun rays unable to reach. So it’s called valley of shadow. You can enter in Sandhan valley but it is accessible throughout the year except monsoon. To go at end side of gorge you have cross 2-3 water pools, water level changes according to seasons, in winter it is up to waist & in summer it is up to knee height. At the end of valley you get magnificent view of high cliffs & deep valleys. To reach up to this point you don’t need any trekking equipment. This is called Sandhan Valley trek.

From that point ahead to reach the base of Sandhan Valley & Karoli Ghat you have to go ahead on the same path. This is known as ‘Sandhan Valley to Karoli Ghat’ trek
its me mak!!!

Dear IM'S

I visited Sandhan Vally last satruday. It was very awesome experiance. Must Visit Place. Find my tour plan in short.

Started by own vehicle from Pune on Nasik Highway at around 3 PM. After Boti (before Sangmner) We took Kotul - Rajur Road. it is single Road. Then from Rajur We reached to Bhandardhara Dam (village shendi bhandardhara)at around 8.30 PM this is about 200 KM. We decided to stay there and found reasonablely good hotel Hotel Amrutheshwar) near MTDC. Food is good rooms are clean. Next morning we visited Dam and took photographs of Umbrela Waterfall. Then started towards Samrad Village via Ghatgar. this is about 25 KM we took around 1 hour to reach. We parked the vehicle in Samrad Village and took one local guide with us (Rs 200). In next 15 minutes we reach to the entry point of the vally. Vally is surrounded by green forest and drinking water pond is available at the entry point. We started decending thorugh bolders and big rocks. It was very interesting the entrei route is between the two rock walls and it creats different combinations of shadow and light. This is also know as vally of Shadow. very good point to take lot of pictures. Different light effects can be captured here.

after walking for some time in the vally we reached to first water crossing point. A samll crossing with a water level of about knee hight. Easy to cross. Advisable to remove shooes and carry it in hand till you cross next water point. next water point is little longer and has a water level upto waist hight. water is cold. Very interesting to corss both sections. No rope or else is required. Then we started further and reached to end point of the vally from where the route funter decends in narrow form (Nalichi Wat) to reach to 50 ft rapling point. Here you need equipments and rope for rapling. There after crossing two more rockpatches, we can reach to the base point and can stay there for night in tent. Equipement and tent can be made available by few villagers - they deal on per perosn basis ranging from 300 - 500 INR covers basic local food, tent, equipments and guide. Next morning we can climb back from Karur Ghat back to Samrad Village.

We decided to return back from the end of point of vally. We climbed back the entire vally. Then we visited nearby Konkan Kada and reached back to Samrad Village. It was very interesting and beautiful trek. We took about 4 hours to do this. We spent more time on photography etc. We took local lunch in samrad village (Rs 50 per head) and drove back to Bhandradhara and then to Akole. There are two beautiful temples in Akole (siddheshwar and Gangadhareshwar) which we visited. There after we visited Nimgaon to see largest baniyan tree formation. And then drove back to Pune to reach at around 12 PM.

Contact details for Samrad Village arrangements: Datta Bhangare 9325926341 or 860515641.

Period to visit: After November till May. Drinking water is available. Vally is closed in Mansoon since it is full of water and thereafter till Nov since water level at water point is above the head. Better to check water level if planning to go in Winter.

Soon i wil share few photos. Do visit in April.
