Does anybody know about guides or other transportation out of Raniket to Mahavatar Babaji's cave? Are there local guides? How much do they charge?
How much is lodging in the area?

(Disclaimer, this information is a couple of years old)

It was about a two and a half hour drive and then an hour's walk, or maybe a little more. You have to drive to Kukucheena (sp??), I think. We went by army jeep, but buses were seen, at least till Dwarhat, and shared taxis (jeeps) till Kukucheena.

No idea about guides. On lodging, there was just one neat looking resteraunt at/near? Kukucheena with some rooms attached at the back, (we were told). Guesthouse type, can't recall the name. Seemed to have good views. Maybe google? Seemed like a basic but peaceful place to stay for a few days.

Dwarhat had some basic lodging facilities, nothing fancy or open.

If you are travelling a bit around the area you might find it worthwhile to hire a taxi (proper small car, note that shared jeeps are also called taxis sometimes out there) from Kathgodam for the trip (see many other threads with member recommendations and recent costs). If you are on a budget, however, you can manage with shared jeeps or buses, I am sure.

PS: Didn't comment on costs, but I don't think you should not be looking at more than 6/800 rupees a day for lodging at Dwarhat or Kukucheena (that guesthouse). Shared transport (judging from normal rates in the hills there) may cost around 300 or so one way, from Ranikhet.
