Chronicles of Satpura
Hi IMers,
Wanted to share with you this gem of a National Park which we visited recently: Satpura National Park in Madhya Pradesh.
Satpura National Park is not so well known and therein lies the refreshing charm of the place: where there are no guides with walkie-talkies, no convoy of jeeps rushing off at break-neck speeds to see tigers and no bookings needed months in advance to gain entry to the park. One can go on safaris by canoe, boat, elephant, jeep and even a special walking safari is available in a designated area. The park is home to sloth bears, bisons, Neelgai, deer, boars, wild dogs, leopard, Malabar giant squirrel, zillions of birds and butterflies and the most elusive of them all the tiger.

Lovely trip report & pictures. The lodge looks pretty expensive though.

what makes you think that Satpura isn't a well known national park :-) on the contrary, satpura is a pretty well known place. Thanks to one hindi poem on satpura when I was in school. I still remember few lines...

Very nice travelogue.

I visited Satpura last year, stayed in Churna and Madhai forest rest houses. Had good sightings of a leopard.

Wow. Looks good. I had visited Pench in MP and hated the over tourism.

Hi modeb,
Beautifully written blog. Sounds like you had a great time.
We are thinking of spending 4 nights in Satpura in mid April. Do you think it is too long?
