I'm sad I'll miss out on this, not going to India until October. In any case, if you have flickr or a blog or something I'd love to see the pictures and hear about this trip!

If photography is your interest, why North East in June end to July? It would be full monsoon during that time in NE and road communication would be pathetic, also you won't get many sunny moments to take good snaps. Many places may be flooded in Assam which is quite regular during that time.

Even TN in October would be hit heavily by North East Monsoon.

Rain indeed has its own beauty but doesn't fit quite well with photographies specially landscape.

Have a safe and nice trip.

In some other threads I noticed you are possibly planning for a darjeeling trip in May. Actually in North East monsoon sets in as early as in March and it's the heaviest rainfall area in whole country. Along with that the poorest infrastructure makes it difficult to visit those places during peak monsoon. Best time for NE is winter and in case you want to venture into Himalayas during summer (Apr/May/June), western himalayas (Ladakh/Himachal/Uttakhand) would be your best bet, Eastern Himalayas is very wet and post monsoon (Nov/Dec) would be best for these areas.

I am in IT industry too and understand fully the constraints of getting leaves specially for a travel loving person, anyway all the best for all your trips

Definitely Monsoon is best to enjoy's Chera's ambience specially the water falls but photography as I mentioned earlier won't come along, you would have tough time to even keep your camera in a water resistant bag. But I am sure you would enjoy the monsoon there at its best.
