Hello friends,

Few questions regarding the above:
1. Is it possible to go to mon through Sivasagar? How much time will it take to get there from Guwahati and back (using Public transportation)?
2. How much time to get to mon from Guwahati through jorhat and Mokokchung and back (again by bus etc.)?
3. How do I go from Mon to surrounding villages - can I find someone in mon with a car to take me? How much roughly should it cost? Can I do it without it - i.e. in public transportation?
4. Is it possible to stay the night at one of these villages?

a whole bunch of questions...sorry for that but I have searched and just could find answers to that.

Thank you very much!

Mon

its rarely that one finds someone who has been to mon, to tell you how to reach there.
Yes, it is possible to go from Sibsagar to Mon, but you have to hire a car/ jeep.
There is one bus that goes from Sonari to mon in the morning, but that bus is not dependable, and only if u are on a very tight budget, then go by that bus.
Bhoju is the nearest railway station, where u get down, its after Shimaligudi. Shimaligudi is the railway station for Sibsagar
I would advice that u reach Sibsagar a day before and explore the town, as it is beautiful,
and when you are there, you can make enquiries about the morning bus from Sonari
Sibsagar to Sonari is not far and there would be vehicles plying on the route.
But, I would advice that you take a car from Sonari or Sibsagar, because, while in Mon, you need a vehicle to move around, and that is very difficult to get once you reach there. there is nothing in the town, but all that you wish to see is in villages, which are at some distance.

Hi all

again the guide and driver issue - could you recommend someone who can act as both (hopefully in mon)? I thought it may be more economic this way as I am traveling alone - do you know how much should it cost?
this leads me to asking if anybody cares to join me in about 3 days visiting mon villages for a short while - please send me a message here

thanks a alot

Hi Nitz,
Hopefully intend to go to Nagaland in Febuary.
When you finish your Nagaland part and get back to where there is easy come by internet could you share with us any practical info,
what I am interested now is hiring a car with driver who speaks English and can also act as a guide.
Shalom & Happy Travelling
David
