Tips for Getting Most out of Mumbai for 3 days?

Hello all!

So I'm flying into Mumbai on Saturday at 2:30pm. And will be there until Tuesday, noon. Flying to Varanasi next.

Just curious if anyone had some Must Sees while I'm in Mumbai. Here's what I'm thinking so far:

-Get Airtell Sim card at Airport (so I'll have access to google maps)
-Gateway of India
-Dharavi Tour w/ Reality Tours (trying to do this responsibly and not as a privileged tourist)

Anything else people would recommend?

Some things that popped out from Trip Advisor were:
-Shree Mahalakshmi Temple
-Bandra-Worli Sea Link
-Elephanta Caves

I'm staying with a friend for a couple of those days in Southern Mumbai, and looks like there's lots to do and see with just walking around in the south.

I'm a HUGE walker...even if it's a three hour walk over riding in cars. So even if it's just walking around southern Mumbai for 3 days, I'm fine with that.

In southern Mumbai looks like there's:

-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (I'm also a HUGE history buff)
-The coast
-Marine Drive - Queens Necklace

And I'm sure my friend my have some suggestions...but yeah, just reaching out here as well in case anyone has any MUST SEES that I haven't thought of.

Otherwise yeah, I'll just stick taking in as much of southern Mumbai that I can.

Thanks!

Elephanta Caves are good to see with the ferry ride. Beware the guides who will let you believe they are provided in the entry price but will hit you up for 500rs after they have given you the tour. Zamba.:confused:

If you do plan to visit Elephanta Islands keep around 5/6 hours for it. 2 hours will be for traveling to and fro and the remaining 3-4 hours looking at the caves and the cannons on top of the hill.

Ok great, thanks Aarosh. Yeah I figure the Elephanta Islands are worth it. Was thinking of heading to the Gateway of India early Sunday morning, then taking the ferry to the islands from there. Then getting back by late afternoon to check more out!

A Dharavi tour is amazing...can't remember who I went with but their guides had all grown up in Dharavi. I learned a lot!
It might be the best of times or the worst of times...but it's the only time you've got!
