hi, We will be travelling to Delhi on 26th March. I have booked accommodation in Varanasi for the 30 to the 1 April. Then flying to Mumbai and staying 2 nights. The dilemma is we fly home on the 7th April from Delhi. Any suggestions for the last 4 days????? I am very confused!! Looked into a couple of Golden Triangle tours but they seemed Hectic to say the least. Because of this decided to do it ourselves. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Option 1
Fly from Mumbai to Aurangabad
One day each for the caves of Ellora and Ajanta.
The city itself is worth another day and there is also the Daulatabad fort.
From Aurangabad return to Delhi.

Option 2
Instead of Aurangabad visit Bhopal.
Apart from the city you can visit sites as Sanchi and Bhimbetka

Have you been to India before? What are your interests?

My advice would be to cancel the visit to Mumbai, and concentrate on the north of India, unless you have specific reasons to go to Mumbai?

You can visit Agra on a day trip from Delhi by train if you don't mind an early start, or you can rent a car with driver. Most hotels can book this.

I like vonklas suggestion of visiting Ellora and Ajanta if you do fly to Mumbai.

Going from Varanasi to Mumbai and back north again to visit Rajasthan briefly seems very rushed, as you leave India on the 7th...

Jaipur has palaces and forts, Udaipur also, you could maybe fit just one of the Rajasthan cities in before returning to Delhi?

Ed.

I agree with O&R. Do consider spending time in Delhi too. There are a lot of things to see and history to absorb in Delhi as well. Overall impression is too much travel and too little time to soak up and explore...
