Airport bus - Is Best bus still running? Schedule?

Hi, Is the Best Bus still running from the International Terminal. I looked on their website www.bestundertaking.com but could not find the route. I (typically) arrive just after midnight, but am happy to wait until early morning for a bus (rather than using the pre-paid cabs.
Or... are there any other bus options into Fort or Colaba areas?
Many thanks.

No bus that goes directly from the airport to the city, so you will need to take bus #338 to get to Andheri Railway Station (East) by bus and then take a train starting from there or take another bus #2 from Andheri Station. You could also take an autorickshaw to the train station. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Unhappy Help! Arriving @ 3:00 a.m...

I just took a better look at my ticket and my flight gets into Mumbai at 3:00 a.m.; I won't have a hotel room until that evening; what should I do? Taking buses to the Andheri station and trains into downtown at that hour seems like a REALLY bad idea, particularly if I get out in the wrong part of town. The train will the train station have "retiring rooms" or is there any such accomodation at the airport, or should I just sleep in the airport 'til the sun comes up?

There is no arrival lounge in the airport. Not sure about the train station but one wouldn't want to wait there anyway...

You can take a rickshaw from the airport if you walk away from the airport zone - 5 minutes walk from the arrival terminal.

How long does it normally take to get from the airport and into center of Mumbai around 5 p.m? I am looking for a decent hotel around EUR 100 per night and wonder which area is the best? I am only there for 2 nights so need to be close to the action. Obviously want to avoid areas such as finance district or industrial areas. I want to see touristy sights and I am fond of old buildings/architecture. Cheers!

I have used autorickshaw to Andheri station and train to/from the City in both directions. Services from Andheri station go to either Churchgate or CST. Journey times to Churchgate are much quicker. This route is best avoided between 06.00 and around 10.30 going south and from 16:00 to 19:00 northbound as the trains are packed.

Newbies to India and/or those with heavier bags should probably consider paying the approx 110/- for first class train tickets. (2nd Class is about 10/-). At the airport, I found a rickshaw by going down to Arrivals although I believe that they congregate about 250 metres from the Eastern end of the terminal.

Rickshaws into town are not an option as they are forbidden to cross Rahim Creek.

Ways of getting from Mumbai airport (international) to deep in city, other than meru/mega cabs:

when you are about to enter the city from arrivals terminal, on your left side is Prepaid taxi booking counter. You can opt for that. (AC as well as Non AC) charges upto Rs 450 for non ac,in any part of the city (upto miraroad, thane, vashi). minimum is rs 70 upto andheri stn.

Or else, 2nd option is come out of terminal, you would enter an open space where theres sea of waiting people on all 3 sides. with your trolley go in 2 o clock direction to taxi station.

mumbai-pune taxi is available with your trolley go in 3 o clock direction i.e. immediate right.

cheaper ways-
once you are out from taxi stand, walk to your left, for some 500 metres for the bus stop (near a police station). From the bus stop you have foll options:
bus no.
338 to andheri station (nearest railhead to intl airport)- 7 rs- frequency some 10-15 mins max. available till 1 am, starts from 5 am.
35, 321 to vileparle station (3-4 km)- 8 rs- about 10 mins combined frequency
395 to santacruz station- 10 rs- around 20 mins frequency
35 (15 mins frequent) can take you to bang worli (anywhere), dadar, mahim, bandra siddhivinayak.

right now BEST doesnt have any service from intl airport right upto the city, since theres work going on in airport premises, and the bus stops keep on changing frequently, (changed thrice in 2 years).....
there are more BEST services from domestic airport.

Once you reach andheri, vileparle or santacruz station, buy the ticket to the destination station (first class upto 110 rs, 2nd class upto 10 rs).. and board a SLOW TRAIN (pf. 2,6,7 of andheri, 2,6 of vileparle, 2,6 of santacruz)... and catch a CHURCHGATE train. runs from 4 am to 1.45 am. frequency 15 mins in dawn and midnight, otherwise its less than 3 minutes.

@shasa:
http://erail.in?T=CSTM::ST: Gives list of trains that travel Mumbai-Surat. You didn't mention whether you are arriving by a Domestic or nternational Flight. If International you will need a while to complete immigrationa and come out.

The best station to reach is Borivali: Swaraj exp at 08.30 to reach by 12noon and Saurashtra exp at 09.03 to reach 02.00pm are the options IF you can reach in morning peak traffic

Take a Taxi direct to Borivali. Thats the least hassle.
Other option: Airport to Andheri train station by Auto/Taxi. Andheri to Borivali by local train. HOWEVER, that time of day the trains will be extremely crowded. Trains headed towards and ending at Borivali, will see a surge of people get in even before the trains stops. So move away from the doors and get off after they have all got in. If you have more luggage than you can comfortably manage, take the Taxi/Auto and save yourself a lot of trouble.
