I'lll be in Mumbai from 8th to 12th December. I would like a MRI scan done more as a precautionary measure, something which I'm unable to have in the U.K.. How much would a MRI roughly be. Do I need to make an appointment beforehand or would I be able to have it done on the day if I just turn up. Do they do MRI prints offs? Whats the best way to go about it? Thank you!

Booking an appointment beforehand is better, else the waiting time can stretch to beyond a couple of hours.
The charges vary depend on the MRI that is done - brain can cost upto 8-9K INR, spine can cost more. Prices would vary as per centres as well.

You will get the MRI printed on sheets. There are lots of MRI centres in Mumbai, you can get appointments for the next week quite easily.

What is MRI for precautionary measure ? You have to be specific with the lab & the doctor on what you want done, and they will give you a checklist, and then determine if MRI is suitable or not.

Any reason why NHS is reluctant to do one ?

MRI scan in Mumbai?

NHS is reluctant to do anything expensive. Expensive includes using expensive equipment, the cost per hour of which is inflated by their reluctance to use it. I have suffered from this Bean-counting stuff.

Also saying: the lab will require a specific request, in medical terms. If the OP can bring that (or does know what to ask for) then fine. If not, a local doc will be happy to get his commission.

Just had a MRI,appointment was for 00.20 ( after midnight) Saturday morning (our Sabbath, when nearly everything comes to standstill) The MRI is mobile ,goes from hospital to hospital and works 24/364 in the year think excluding our Yom Kippur. That does cut down the cost,at end of scan get a disk with your scan. Did have to wait a month for scan, was not an emergency.
