Hi,

I am moving to Pune in couple of weeks and my company is in Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, Hinjewadi. We are 4, including a 6 year old.

Please suggest a decent residential area (preferably flats with security) nearby. I guess compare to distances here in NCR, I am open for a radius of 10 KMs.

My criteria is

1. Nearby good CBSE board school for the 6 yr old.
2. 2 BHK accommodation
3. Rent between 9K - 11K

Thanks

If I were you - the first thing I would do is look at th internal classifieds, which you should be able to access even from Gurgaon.

About the localities - Wakad,Pimple Gurav/Nilakh, Baner, Aundh etc are in order of proximity from Hinjewadi.

About the schools - I will not be able to comment on, but am sure there are schools within vicinity and should have school buses.

Infact Blueridge in Hinjewadi phase 1 has a school but it has just started and I am not sure till what class is the school operating.

About the budget - You might just be able to find a deal in that cost- but keep your budget a little flexible.

And welcome to Pune

new_traveller has answered most of the things, but I would just like to add 'Pimple Saudagar' as another location option.

For rent, you should get unfurnished ones witin your budget, the furnished ones would naturally be costlier. Aundh, Pimple Saudagar areas are a bit costlier than the others. Your best bet should be Wakad which is rapidly developing as a residential area and close to Hinjewadi too.

If you need any brokers etc, let me know. I know a very reliable one so I can give you his number.

Thanks new_traveller and saugata41 for the suggestions. I appreciate that. It will certainly give me a good start in my search for a better accommodation.

I think I will be there in PUNE on 21st Nov (+1 week) and will be staying in my company accommodation for 14 days hence I will be having atleast 14 days to explore these areas and hopefully will be able to strike a good deal. By the way what is the security trend in Pune. 2 Months security and 1 month advance rent?

By the way I am actually in need of an unfurnished accommodation however it should be having atleast wood work.

Thank you very much for your help.

Wood work and all would really be very difficult to predict on how a particular apartment has been furnished and up for a let out.
I think 2 months or 1 months deposit as security should work out. It would also depend on the landlord/agent etc.

Well i did not know I would hooked up to the forum when I created the id and hence the not so meaningful name.
But in reality there is always something which is new for us and hence makes me new to most of the things I explore.

Last couple of days in Gurgaon.

I have to report on 21 Nov and I did not got a confirmed train ticket. Booked 3 different tickets on 6th Nov for 19th Nov but still in W/L

Seems like Plan 5 (4 plans failed/about to fail ) will be the only way out that is by Air. Air India morning flight on Sunday seems to be the cheapest but will wait till Saturday morning till 9:30AM before booking it. Maybe I will get a ticket in tatkal.

Once I am there in Pune, I have to report in "Magarpatta City, Hadapsar" and chances are that I might work from "Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, Phase 1, Hinjewadi". I will get to know about the exact location of work on the day 1

Well, I have already listed down the properties which I am planning to visit. Hopefully I will get a good deal with less/no deposit.

Had a hard day yesterday, Didn't got confirmed rail ticket. Had a speed challan, kept running till midnight.

Finally, now I am in Pune Got morning Air India flight booked and was here in Pune @ 7AM today. There was chilll in the air and thankfully I had a sleeve less jacket with me.

Reached Guest house and started exploring the city. What a good way then State Transport to explore.

Started from Magarpatta to Kataraj and changed my mind inbetween and got down at Swargate. From there went to Shivaji Nagar. Then walked down to ferguson road. Walked from the Bander road to the end of ferguson road and back. Inbetween had a heartly meal at Niranjan. Then went to Shaniwar Wada. Awesome it was. Then back to Swargate and Magarpatta.

Though wanted to roam around Bavdhan, Baner and Aundh as well but lack of sleep (only 2 hrs) yesterday overpowered my excitement.

Nevertheeless I will do it as soon as I get some time. Its a nice city and the weather is also good.

Will start house hunting from tomorrow.
By the way in Magarapatta City 2BHK is for 14K with 60K deposit. Somebody just adopt me

Excuse for late reply, the Pune city is fun with so many things to look around.

Well, its been rollercoaster ride for me initially but seems like it was a fun past. I got Guest house accommodation in Magarpatta where we have our another office location. It was supposed to be my reporting place only however later I got to know that it will be my work place as well instead of Hinjewadi.

Once confirmed about my location, I started house hunting in Magarpatta, Mohammadwadi, Kondwa, Kharadi, Hadapsar, Kalyani Nagar, Viman Nagar, etc. Finally got 2BHK in Fursungi which is on Saswad road and 1 KM for SP Info City and 6.4 Kms from my office in Magarpatta which is fine compared to my present distance of 10KMs in Gurgaon.

Connectivity seems to be not a problem from there as Buses and shared autos are available. Only problem is that you have to commute in breaks. Fursungi to Hadapsar Mandi. From there take a bus till Hadapsar Flyover next to Noble hospital and from there take a shared auto to the main gate of Magarpatta city or just walk by. By the way planning to buy a Cycle for commuting. It will keep me healthy and I will also proudly say that I am Eco friendly

Twice I did walk the entire 6.4 KMs. Will not do it again (age is catching up I guess) however I did manage to check so many shops in between. I can now proudly claim that I know where to find what By the way Joshi's Vada Pao is yum.

I got the 2 BHK in 9K rental with a deposit of 30K. A decent accommodation I would say with a secured compound. I found it myself through commonfloor. I also did check leads through sulekha, propertywala and 99acres.

I would have loved to stay in Magarpatta and would not have mind paying even 15K because of the location but the problem there is
1. You may not find a good deal w/o a broker
2. More the rental, more is the deposit(it pinches). Actually there is no logic behind the deposit, the owner can ask any amount and you will start calculating whether it is 5 months rent or 6 or something inbetween.
3. Though the place is good but not all societies are good. Some are not well maintained and yet they demand high security deposit.

I am now planning to save money (my deposit fund), just in case I ever get transferred to Mumbai/Bangalore

The only thing that I was worried while finalizing the accommodation was about the school. Fortunately Lexicon school is starting a new branch which is next to SP Info city (just 1 KM from my new place) from June next year so even this problem is over.

Looking forward to explore the Pune City and adjoining areas.
