hello everyone

I am currently looking for opportunities in India and got an offer of a management school in India where I should handle several courses for a post-grad diploma. I studied in Switzerland and in the UK at good unis and have several years of work experience.

Now the problem is that they asked me to give an indication about my remuneration package and I was wondering if someone of you could provide me with some advice? For my understanding I would have a lot of responsibility and could contribute in a unique way to the programme based on my diverse background.

Now its just a question of the monthly salary... I hope someone here can help me a bit :-)

Thanks in advance.

Greetings
Andreas

Hi Andreas!
There isn't much infomation in your post to determine how much a good or reasonable salary would be for you. It would depend on many factors :
  • In which city is the school located, the cost of living in that city and whether you will be provided accomodation ?
  • How many hours per day you would have to teach ? Each hour may require you to put in an equivalent time in preparing for them.
  • What kind of management school is it ? Is it an international school or is it a small school aided by the Government?
  • Why are you doing it ? Is it mainly for the experience ? Do you expect to be fully compensated for your efforts, or are you doing it more in the spirit of volunteering and would be happy to get just enough to survive the period in reasonable comfort?
Well without knowing any of these if I were to hazard a guess, I would say between 5 to 10 lakhs per annum!

Andreas, the indication I get is you're going to be a faculty at a B-school. If you're seriously considering a career in academia, you should look at a few more factors in addition to what justdeep is saying - viz. what branding it adds to you, whether you can publish whilst you're here, industrial consultancy etc.

I don't know how these things go but 5 to 10 lakhs per annum sounds a little less!
