METRO CASH & CARRY won't sell to anyone not registered and even if you are you have to buy a min of INR 1000 worth of goods. At least thats what it is in Hyderabad.

Thank you Cybermen_01!

Please can you tell me which Spencer Hyper market in Calcutta has it? I have checked some Spencers such as Abhishar, Ghariahat, and they do not seem to have it.

Thanks!

I am not sure, but you can try the South City Spencer.

Very much same here in Kolkata, too.

Salmon in Calcutta?

( A die hard lover of Salmon, I reached this forum while searching for Salmon+Kolkata on the net: using the inter-net to catch a fish :-))

Yes, one does need a trade license to shop from Metro Cash & Carry. Alternatively, one can also tag along with a business person or carry an authorization letter, which is not a permanent solution, though. In any case, I suggest you call them up to check the stock. It has happened with me that I make all the arrangement to reach there and find no stock.

I assume stock checking is to be done for Spencer Hyper, just to avoid disappointment. I have inquired about it several times at Spencer's Hyper at Mani Square (Near my residence, but it seems they haven't heard the name of the fish. But they do have other sea fish like Tuna and Mackerel, if you care)

Some time I used to get tinned Salmon from C3 (Salt Lake), but not any more. However, you can get other tinned sea fish like Mackerel, Sardine, Tuna, etc. I found Tuna (in brine) quite fresh and juicy.

Also, smoked cooked Salmon used to be available at Afraa Deli, Salt Lake. The price being Rs500 per 200g pack. But nowadays, they don't even seem to bring it.

Last week I was visiting Hyatt, and found that they sell cold cuts of Salmon @Rs 3500/KG, minimum quantity being 250g.

By the way, if you want to visit a >=5 star and order for an entry of Salmon, I am not too sure about the money's worth. Once I did, and I seem to have paid only for the ambiance. They sprinkled powdered salmon on lettuce, calling it Salmon Salad.

Best of luck to Salmon lovers in Kolkata.
