Hi:

I will be moving to Delhi in October for 1 yr to work for World Bank. I have lived in the US for the past 10 yrs and this is my first time in Delhi.

I need some advice on finding a 1 BHK, close to my office which is in Lodi Estate. My budget is Rs. 25,000. What areas can I find a 1 BHK apartment for my budget? I will not have a car (atleast for the first few months) and will be dependent on bus/metro for the commute.
Please help with some advice/suggestions.

Thanks

Sue

Moving to Delhi from LA

I am from India. I grew up in chennai, but dont have experience looking for rental apt in India. Also a little apprehensive as it will be my first time in Delhi.
I am looking for a safe, comfortable aparartment with good basic amenities (electricity/water) and within 20 min commute to work. I greatly appreciate any advice.

I doubt you will venture into a DTC bus So your options are auto or metro. Take a integrated map of Delhi Metro, and pin your office.

Along the metro corridors explore the neighborhoods based on what amenities and facilities you would like to have as a convenience. Khan Market, Def Col, GKI&II, South Ex etc are prohibitively expensive if you want creature comforts similar to LA. you would have to move into gated high rises; a tad rarity in the confines of outer-ring road of Dilli.

[BTW: I don't live in DEL, but know more a football team size of acquaintances who call DEL their home]

Thanks nycank. You are right about the area being prohibitively expensive

What areas can I find a 1 bed apt around Rs 25000/mo, close to metro, can anyone share some thoughts (not looking for luxury, just looking for something reasonable, best value for the budget)
