Hello,

I will be moving to Chennai in June. And I am looking for a good school for my children (3 and 5 years old). We have checked the American International School and liked it very much. Although it is rather expensive. Now we have also heard that there is a British International School. But somehow we can't find much information about this, except for their own website. Can anyone give me some more information about the British International School or what your experiences are? And do you have other options as well for education?

Thank you!

Thanks. This post gives some more options as well and is very useful to me. Wonder what experiences there are with Gateway Schools and Billabong school.
And I am still wondering why I can't find any reviews of the British International school. Aren't there any children going there?

Of course children are going there.

I also searched various forums and failed to find any reviews on british international school.

Probably they dont have anything to complain and hence no reviews...

With Warm Regards

Thank you all for your help. This week my husband will be visiting the British school, and let's see.
My husband will be the Business Development Manager for an international Consulting and Engineering company in Chennai.

Dear ISN, may I ask where your children finally went to school and what your experiences are?

Jgondi,

My kids are going to Church Park, it was founded by the Irish Presentation Sisters who came to India in the year 1842. The School is under the Management of the Presentation Sisters whose founders is Nano Nagle. They follow the Matriculation Syllabus http://www.tn.gov.in/matricsyllabus/ . It is a traditional catholic school; I went to a catholic school so I am very happy with their way of education. My advise as a foreigner you should look for schools that your kids are comfortable with checkout ICSE Syllabus schools http://ekikrat.in/ICSE-Schools-Chennai . Schools like Vaels Billabong http://www.vaelsbillabonghigh.com/ , offer air-conditioned classroom, your kids will really appreciate that in Chennai. Would like to speak to your husband to find out if they have any IT opportunities in Chennai (I just moved to Chennai and looking for a job in IT), here is my email asirl@hotmail.com

Indiamiker's are having a meetup this weekend April 25, if you are in town you can join us. http://www.indiamike.com/india/india...ups-t8724/186/

Hi, thanks for the information. My husband has just arrived in Chennai again and will be staying there till Monday. I will send him the invitation for the Meetup. If he is planning to come I will ask him to contact you. And I will also inform him about your IT job search.
I will only be coming to Chennai in June, so will not be able to meet you all on April 25. Would be nice to join next time to get to know some people.

He will be visiting the British School and Gateway school tomorrow aswell. Hope it will be nice, since our company has decided not to pay for the high fees of the American International School.

Billabong Vs Gateway American School

Hi,

Now we are getting confused. We like the Gateway American School, but the Billabong school as well. I read many reviews about the schools, but lost my way in all information.
Does anyone like to share their experiences with these schools?

Hi Jgondi,

a bit late to pitch in. However, just to let you know the Billabong School has got excellent infrastructure and some of the children known to our family are studying there. Another friend of mine is going to admit her daughter in Grade 6 this year and she is also pretty impressed with the school.

However one point you would need to take in to account is the distance. Where would your husband's office location in Chennai ? You need to consider the distance between home and office and home and school and take a decision. Shall write more on hearing from you.

Cheers, Raghu

We have enrolled our kids in Billabong High School, Sr KG en Nursery class. We were pretty impressed by the school. It all looks quite professional and the atmosphere is very nice. My son started last week and although he has a tough time since he doesn't know English yet and was used to another schoolsystem, he also likes the school.
We have decided to look for a house in the area of the school, so that travelling there will not to be much of an issue.

Thank you all for your help.
