Mahindra World City is somewhere in 50 km from Chennai (i.e. ~2 Hr driving time in one direction).

What I mean is the MWC doesn't belong to Chennai and in some way far from here. In fact, this is Kanchipuram District. So, no one here will be able to give a guidance to you.

Any way, this is habitated place so you DEFINITELY can get a rented flat, inside (there are some housing available at MWC) or near by.

Hi Sunny
Welcome to Chennai & IM.

As Yuri has pointed out and you have realized, MWC is well outside the city, in a neighboring district. There is a good highway that leads up to the place. So, it would be possible to commute from around the airport side of the city, but it would still be quite a drive.

I have heard reports of quite a few apartment complexes, some of them quite high end, coming up around MWC. I've never gone down there to see how these are though.

The suburbs of Tambaram, Seliyur, Vandalur would not be too bad commute wise to MWC, and are also reasonably well connected to the city itself.

Check out some of these sites www.sulekha.com , www.magicbricks.com for rental listings. This will give you an idea of the rental market and whats available.

p.s Most of the companies that have offices there run daily scheduled bus pick up and drop services to the city. Do check if your office does so.

Cheers
Krishna

My main concern is Good/secure home i will manage how to commute to office.
So if i am looking for a 2 BHK flat in a gated secure community with power back up fully furnished, where should i look it? i mean which area?
And what would be the Rent for such Flat in a good area?

Check out Tambaram area in the websites i mentioned. Rents can range from 10 - 15 K INR. You should be able to get an apartment with power backup for slightly more.

However, letting of fully furnished apartments is very rare, but not unheard of. Your definition of fully furnished might not agree with the landlords definition of the same.

Cheers
Krishna

Hi,
if you have any friends in Infosys or Renault nissan, you can try sending them an email and ask them to post it in their office emailing list... this might help you in a better way than going through agents/websites....

Also, there are ample good apartments on the GST road (road from tambaram to MCity) and in a comfortable distance to Mahindra city. If you are in chennai or know anyone in chennai whocan just go directly to these apartments and inquire about the vacancy... this proves to be more efficient..

I really like this idea, but... 10-12 hours of power cuts are just TERRIBLE They have something like 1 hr with power/1 hr without, and some 3 (or 4 - don't remember exactly) hr power without breaks before morning.
