Hello,

I came back from one week in Chennai ! It is was a experience !
I think we need few weeks to get used to it but we will love it for sure.
The driving is crazy !!! very scary sometimes.

I visited some flats. I asked south of Chennai but I saw a flat in Abhiramapuram. Is it a nice area to live ??? my husband will work in oragadam ( delphi tvs) south of chennai. We wanted to live more in the south but the indians are not keen to make it happen !
I have to say we are not paying for the rent it is Delphi TVS.
many thanks for your help

Nick?

(He loves the place and has lived there for a couple of years)

Nice central location, husband may have some distance to commute though.

Upmarket neighbourhood, almost everything closeby, getting crowded with apartments coming up in place of independent houses..

In Chennai, nice place.

Yes, indeed, though my love for places is often based on that indefinable and non-physical reaction of feeling at home there.

Like many of Chennai's nicer suburbs, it is a criss-cross of leafy streets, many old independent houses of around thirty to fifty years of age, and, unfortunately, many that are now apartment blocks.

It is walking distance from Mylapore (the temple area). easy to get to most other places.

There is poor housing on the Warren Road side, government blocks and then slums along the canal, but, even though I lived on that side, it never bothered me: Chennai is one of those places where mansions and huts are never that far apart.

The only thing is, that if I was working in the South then I would be fairly insistent about living South of the Adyar river: it would make a lot of difference to the travel. Lots of lovely leafy suburbs, some even nicer, in that district!

Glad you enjoyed your trip

Make sure he does that journey at a time of day when he would be doing it for work. Unlike London, where rush hour expanded, over the years, to fill the whole day, there is still a big difference, in Chennai, driving outside of rushhour.

After he's looked around I think it will be.

I'm not often out that early --- but office hours seem to be later here than in UK.

Hello Laurie,

This could be very late message for you but Oragadam is too far from Abhiramapuram if your Husband is still travelling there. It'll take quite a lot of time to travel there from Abhiramapuram. By now you would have made lots of R&D. Happy living and enjoy.

Regards.
Hari.
