W@hoops , just posted this in reply to wrong message!
Yes,Normally you would think that. Airports are usually a rip off, but strange as it seems not the bank owned money changers in Delhi airport!! Also, no dilly dallying around, they change your money at warp speed, the only competition they have is those chaps who seem to hang around barbers shops all day just off Connaught place.Although "black market" money changers are mostly quite honourable folk just getting into a bit of free market business , I have been horribly burned once.
There was a bloke operating in Colaba in late 1970's and early 1980's who enlisted the help of a foreigner who appeared to be a fellow customer and they had a taxi driver who was also part of the racket. When i went to the cops, they were very very keen to know exactly how much I had lost, and it took me a while to figure it out that they needed to know how much i had been taken for in order to get their cut. These guys were so slick that there was another foreigner in there lodging a complaint not more than an hour after me!!

Cool

The black market dealers will give you the best rate, but not necessarily for OZ. They can't easily sell on $AUD. Buyers want US$, POUND and EURINE, oops sorry, Euro.

GoanGoan......here & there..Goa

NT (Not True). I always make it a point to change taxi and daru money for the first day at the Airport (BOM,DEL) SBI Airport money exchanger has worse exchange rate like banks in other airports. The biggest hook is the advertised "NO COMMISSION"

What happened in '80s & '90 is ancient history. The SBI 10$ change earlier this year was 150 points worse than SBI Gurgaon; SBI BOM was same difference to SBI Juhu Tara. There is a reason why all banks forex windows at airports charge, what they do - Because they can and you are squeezed and anxious.
