4 days is more than adequate for Shillong and Sohra.

What do you have in mind for the plan?

Do have a look at some of the Trip Reports available at this forum

Question

Hello Karikor,
I was looking up a lot of threads and chalked out the followingplan for end October/early November:

Day1:
Land in Shillong. Visit Umiam lake and walk around the town to places of places. Stay in Shillong.

Day2:
Proceed to Sohra. Enroute halt at Shillong peak, Elephant falls, Mawphlang sacred grove, Mawkdok Valley, Ramkrishna Mission, Nohkalikai Falls. Mawsmai Caves, Eco Park, Nohsngithiang Falls, Thangkharang Park, Motrop. Stay in Sohra.

Day3 :
Option#A
Nongrihat Terk (Double decker living roots bridge). Return to Shillong after the trek. Stay in Shillong.

OR

Option#B
Trip to Mawsynram. Visit Mawjyngbuin Cave, Khreng Khreng (Cracked rock), Rit Mawksir (view point), Jakrem (Hotwater Spring). Return to Shillong. Stay in Shillong.

Day4:
Shillong-Dawki-Mwlynnong-Shillong Day Trip. Stay in Shillong

Day5:
Shillong To Kaziranga. Stay in Kaziranga.

Day6 :
Safari in Kaziranga. Stay in Kaziranga

Day7:
Travel to Guwahati. Visit Kamakhya temple. Stay in Guwahati.

Day8:
Flight from Guwahati

Does the itinerary look feasible within this time? I would have to hire private cabs for most parts of the journey and would be starting travel everyday by 7-8am.

I am also unsure about Day#3. Does any of the Options look feasible to cover in a day? Though I hate comparing places as each has its own charm, if I have to pick out one of the two options on Day#3, which one would you recommend?

Thanks for the Megabytes of advise that you churn out on Meghalaya trips in so many different threads.

Please have a look at Suparna Acharya's Trip Report to get a relatively better idea of what is on offer.

Do go to the living roots bridges and stay the night at Nongriat. Then trek a little way up and find the clearest waterfalls and pools of blue. Have fun
