1. Guwahati to Shillong en route Umiam Lake. N/S Shillong

Why don't you stay in Mawphlang itself. Saves travel time next day

Actually i have a plan to visit the golf club @ morning by waking. Is there any Cherry Blossom tree present?

Ok. You will find a few Cherry Blossoms as you travel down from Governor's House to the Golf Club.

That's why i want to do that

My plan is to reach Nongriat @ 4/5 PM after Mawphlang. So the next day is reserved for waterfalls and Mawsmai Caves.

Mawsmai cave will take hardly 25 mins. You should not miss Arwah cave, Nohkalikai falls and Garden of Caves. Then after whatever Sohra sightseeing is done for the day, you can proceed ahead to Mawlynnong

We required 4/5 hour for visit double decker bridge and back to tyrna. So it will be 11/12PM. And one more point is, i want to do some evening/night photography at near Dai˝thlen Falls. 1 More query, what is the parking option at tyrna?

5. Shnongpdeng to Shillong. N/S Shillong

You can halt at Jowai and then next day proceed directly to Guwahati via Shillong Bypass

This day is reserved for a long bike ride around 150/200 Km. My plan to start @6AM and reach Syntung by 11AM. 2 hours for the waterfall and start 1.30 PM and reach Shillong by 5 PM.

Why travel the same route when plenty of options to see via Jowai

Options like??

6. Shillong to Guwahati and back to Kolkata

Day 6 detail plan... Visit around Shillong City like View Point, Sweet falls, Lady Hydari Park, Ward's Lake and Butterfly Museum. Then processed towards Guwahati at 2/3 PM. My flight @ 8.30PM.

Not many places in Shillong are actually worth spending time, if time is an issue.

Actually Cherry Blossom is the main reason to visit Lady Hydari Park and Ward's Lake. I hear that some tree present there? Is it true?

My calculations were for Shnongpdeng - Jowai - Syntung - Shillong and Shnongpdeng - Jowai - Nartiang - Shillong

Can i take the right turn from Laitlyngkot towards Ummluh. This will save 30/40 Km.

Also the 25-30km road from Mawkynrew to Syntung will be a biker's challenge

In terms of bad road condition or uphill? One more thing in my mind, if i skip Syntung (for water level issue at November) and ad Laitlum. how is it?

Yes you will still find a few cherry blossom trees dotted all over Shillong, including Wards lake and Lady Hydari Park and Nehru Park

My calculations were for Shnongpdeng - Jowai - Syntung - Shillong and Shnongpdeng - Jowai - Nartiang - Shillong

Can i take the right turn from Laitlyngkot towards Ummluh. This will save 30/40 Km.

Yes you can do that. You will save atleast 25km.
Some parts of the road is not so good.

Bad roads. Laitlum is before Syntung, so automatically will be covered. You can also cover Rapleng peak, Lwai falls and Mawlyngot Organic Tea village

Hi Murali,
How long have you been driving bikes for/ do you have any experience of long drives? With the bag and rains, you need to be a little experienced so that you can manage in case of any emergencies.
Everything might not be exactly the same as it was when I went, so it would be good if you do check up on these places & plan your itinerary before you go. :-)

Have a great trip, ask if you want any comments/suggestions.

Trip to Tawang

hi Siddharth,

I did the trip to Meghalaya in September and followed the same itinerary that you had written and also used the same places to stay and used the same contacts as well.
So a big heartfelt Thank you for this.

Now, am planning for a solo road trip to Tawang from Guwahati sometime soon. Can you please share if you had been there and help me in making a successful trip again.

Thanks in advance.
Murali
