Hi Guys,

Been following this forum for quite a while now.

Now need suggestions and help from all fellow members and mahagurus!

Trip Itinerary:

19th Jan: Reach Guwahati at 8.30 am. Onwards to Sohra. Stay at Sohra.
Help needed: Share jeep/small car cost idea. Sohra Guest House contact. Not luxury cottage but basic stay with heater or fireplace facility.

20th Jan: Start for Tyrna. See Double Decker bridge. Stay at Nongriat. Informed as homesteads in Nongriat are walk-ins, no advance booking done.

21st Jan: See rainbow falls and natural pools. Move back to Shillong. Stay at Shillong (may be move to Shonngpdeng). Homestay information needed.

22nd Jan: See Dawki and Shonngpdeng. Move back to Shillong? Stay at Shillong.

23rd jan: Local Sightseeing Guwahati or Shillong. Stay at Guwahati.

24th jan: Return from Guwahati in morning flight.

Please suggest me stay places and if itinerary needs to be modified. We are husband wife and like to relax a bit. no rush.

Thanks in advance.

You have so many days, are you sure you want to cover only 3 places?

Hi karikor,

Not an issue at all.

I was also giving Kaziranga a thought to start with. Like the day I reach Gauhati direct transfer to Kaziranga. next day by evening reach Shillong stay there and next day move directly to Tyrna.

Is it possible?

Regards
roy

There is already so much to choose from in the Khasi Hills in Meghalaya. And with Variety. Not same thing in all the places.

I'm sure you will want to add more days.

As for scooty, just carry your Driving License.

I have been following some of the threads in IM. I am in Meghalaya for 4 days after exiting Bhutan & Manas NP in Assam and planning to see Sohra/Shongpdpeng.

Jan 23rd - Manas NP, Assam. Start at 11 am and reach Shillong.
Jan 24th - Shillong start at 7 am (Laitlum Canyon, Uniam Lake) - Sohra (Mawsmai Caves, Nohakalikai waterfalls)
Jan 25th - Sohra - Double Decker roots bridge - Stay at Nongriat - See Rainbow falls?
Jan 26th - Nongriat - See El waterfalls? - Shongpdeng
Jan 27th - Shongpdeng - Shillong - Guwahati - Return flight

Is this plan do-able? We are 4 adults with average fitness. Any suggestion to the plan is welcome.

Remember David Scott trail will take minimum 5hours. And it gets dark by 4:30pm.

Guide is available at the entrance which is on the side of the road in Wahkhen village. The trek to the rock is the main feature in comparison to the destination. Up down will take 2.5hrs.

Things to see between Shnongpdeng -Jowai-Guwahati.
Krangshuri falls, Thluamwi falls and stone bridge, Tyrchi falls, Sajar Nangli lake in Thadlaskein. If you have time, Nartiang monoliths and Durga temple.

Thanks Karikor! If we are not able to make David Scott Trail on time, we will look around Mawphlang or spend more time in Mawphlanur.

I reached out to Pradeep Modak for car and he has quoted 4500 INR per day (Guwahati to Guwahati) for Chevrolet Enjoy vehicle. Just wanted to know if price is fair.

He is also suggesting to stay at Ialong on Jan 25th and leave on sunday to catch flight. This is little bit worrying since of us have return flight at 11:30 am at Guwahati. What do you suggest sir?
