Guwahati - Shillong = 130km
Shillong - Mawphlang = 25km
Mawphlang - Sohra = 70km
Sohra - Shnongpdeng = 100km
Shnongpdeng - Jowai = 60km
Jowai - Umden = 90km
Umden - Guwahati airport = 95km

You will find petrol bunks all over these places.

Thanks vicky, karikor.
Is there any sightseeing places amongst what I have listed, where cab would be required, instead of self driving. I consider myself good to drive on the hills :) But, with family, asking for clarity

I don't think you will have any problems with driving. Roads are mostly good. And not as steep and curvy as mountain roads in Mussorie or Gangtok

Mawlyngbna is 15km South of Mawsynram just next to Lawbah. A guide will take you to all these places.

Mawsyrwait cave and kharmih park are on the way to Dainthlen falls

Kutmadan is ahead from Jiva Resort

Kyrdemkhla is between Mawkdok and Laitlyngkot

Shilliang Jashar is south of Pynursla

Umkrem falls is after Borhil falls on the Mawlynnong- Dawki road via Lyngkhat border road

Reached shillong. Couldn't visit few places in shillong due to delay in picking zoom car. But overall experience is nice. Need to start early. It goes dark around 5.

Hello karikor,
We are at guwahati today. Had planned for umden rather but due to travel fatigue, family opted for familiar City conditions!

Overall, it's been heck of a trip. I would write in details later in the weekend, to share my experiences with fellow travelers.

Few highlights are as follows

Drive: no traffic, less tourists, scenic places. Can't ask for much if one wants to self drive
Less touristy: given the incredible scenic places this region has, it is equally less commercialised, shockingly almost.
Off season: due to this, we had awesome time at shnongpdeng. Anyways, off season are my fav time to tour.
Places to stay: picturesque places to stay. However, had bad experience at Maple pines. Ll share details later
Hot: expected cooler temps. Tees work.
Early sun rise: North East needs different timezones, it should be two hours ahead of ist. One needs to understand 5pm, sun sets. Other side is 6am, sun shines brightly. We literally had to hard reset our sight seeing start end times
Food: there isn't much available on highways or at sight seeing points, for someone who needs food at sharp timings, pack up.

Missed a few sight seeings
Didn't do double decker trek
Reached mawlongbna late in day, so only did brief kayaking before starting back. One should ideally be there for whole day?
Missed umden

More later.
Thanks karikor and others. Can't really thank you guys we enough. Could i donate anywhere!
