We are a family of 3 i.e. 2 adults and our 7 year old reaching Guwahati on 12th Nov. 2015 in the afternoon by flight and leave on 19th evening 1700 hrs flight. We wish to cover Shillong and nearby places, Guwahati and Kaziranga if possible. Also I am interested in the waterfalls. Pl. let me know if waterfalls will have water and pl. suggest a good itenary. I have come across Pobitora national park as an alternative to Kaziranga. Is it fine. We are more interested in elephant ride and may skip the jeep ride.

We have guest house in shillong. So need dedicated small non ac vehicle to visit places. I would be interested in Cherrapunji, MAWLLYNNONG village and nearby places, the single decker root bridge which is in mawlong village, and dawki if possible. Gauwahati and kaziranga might require 2-3 days of the 8 days we there. Any other itenary with lots of greenery and natural beauty may pl. be suggested.
Pl. suggest what is possible and also if water is present in the waterfalls in nov. mid week. Suggest a taxi drivesrs number whom we can contact both for Guwahati airport to shillong /kaziranga transfer and local meghalaya sightseeing. We prefer an independent taxi.

I don't think there is any root bridge in Mawlong village, I may be wrong, but I think a vertical cave is located there.

So you plan to stay only in Shillong for the entire time in Meghalaya?

As for places to visit other than Sohra and Mawlynnong, please go through the different Trip Reports available in the forum and choose.

Waterfall in mid-November will not be full, but you will still find enough water.

Thank You Sir for your quick response. I have come across living root bridge in Mawlynnong (as per net information) . As you have mentioned in most of your replies to other posts that day trip is very tiring, I dont mind staying at a place or two other than shillong. Will I get accomodation as its the peak time. Do suggest a itenary which you think would best suite us. We would like to know standard/ moderate not very costly (around Rs. 2000) at the places other than shillong.

Dear Sir,
We have 4-5 days and I thing the basic itenary places like SHILLONG and around, MAWLYNONG, Nongriat, CHERRAPUNJEE, DAWAKI will be more than enough in the available time. In case it is possible MAWLYNGBA, Mawsynram can be included but it might be too hectic. Also suggest, hotels and taxi services ph. no. ex. Guwahati airport. We would reach Guwahati airport at ~1445 hrs on 12th Nov.
Basically I am confused of the additional places, all starting from MAW look similar. Suggest some places for shopping too.

Thank You for the tour program. I want to know if Dawki cannot be included in this. Further I will look into this and post my querries. Also request you to suggest the hotels in the respective places. Are reservations available at that time of the year in the hotels.

Dawki can be covered from Mawlynnong. There is no accommodation in Dawki so you will have to return back to Mawlynnong.

As for places for Accommodation:

Mawphlang - MaplePines Farm or Keanen Guesthouse
Mawlongbna - Travellers Nest, Mawlongbna
Mawphanlur - Travellers Nest, Mawphanlur
Mawlynnong - www.mawlynnong.org/accommodation
Sohra - Sa-i-mika or Kutmadan Resort

You have one month to go, kindly book as soon as possible as rush season is about to begin.
