Hi All,

This forum has been incredibly useful in planning my Kutch and Puri trips. I was hoping I will get some insights to plan out a 6D/5N trip Nov 21-26. I plan to land in GUW on Tuesday afternoon and then fly back Sunday evening from GUW. Considering Sunday as flight catching day and Tuesday evening in Shillong effectively left with 4 days.

1. How is the public transport connectivity? I'm not looking for Volvos or luxury vehicles but any public transport from one point to another.
2. Is bike rental from GUW a better option? Bike rental will cost about 8-9k plus petrol which i dont mind avoiding if there is reasonable local connectivity from getting one point to point.
3. Is there any cloak room or locker facility where I can leave some luggage in Shillong which I can pick up on my way back? Will be carrying some wedding load which i would like to shed

I will spend Tuesday night in Shillong. Remaining days, i want at most 2-3 hops. with sight seeing options doable via long walks/day treks with minimal car travel.

Something I'm considering:
Wed- David Scott Trail and proceed to Sohra staying Sohra (Can I do something else)
Thurs- Sohra sight seeing (nearby locations by walk/trek.. need some help here)
Fri-Nongriat sight seeing and stay (need some help on Nongriat walk/trek locations)
Sat-Shnongpdeng/Mawlynnong stay
Sunday- GUW return and take flight back. Not too sure about the connectivity from Mawlynnong to Shillong. Is it advisable to switch Mawlynnong to Wed?

Opening to other suggestions which may compress my itinerary to couple of locations where i can enjoy some walks, maybe dip in some pools and spend couple of days doing nothing but some exploring.

This is a brilliant trip report and deserves a sticky thread, surprised Meghalaya does not even have one yet. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the information shared in this thread. Thanks to Mr. Kishore!

Is it possible to extend your number of days? There are still 2-4 places worth visiting.

Thanks karikor.. was hoping for your reply. I dont think its possible to extend.

But I was really hoping to see how best i can explore the options I have in hand.

I'm definitely staying for a night in Nongriat. I'm mostly inclined to skip Scott trail because i dont want to hire a cab for carrying my luggage and dropping it.

Is there any trek i can do other than rainbow falls/double root bridge or to the foot of Noh Ka Likai falls.

Is it really worth checking out falls in November?

The waterfalls I feel will still be somewhat okay in November. You can try caving instead of David Scott Trek.
As for exploring, you can check out the link below. These guys explore new places in and around Sohra almost every month.

Thats Helpful!

let me check that. So currently.
I'm more inclined to spend Wed- Shnongpdeng/Mawlynnong
Thurs/Fri-Nongriat
Sat/Sun-Sohra

I'm guessing it'll be easiest to get back to Guwahati from Sohra

From the above choices, Yes. However, you will need to come back to Shillong again.

Thanks for your great inputs. However, considering the poor flying options from Lucknow and the lack of time i feel N-E sector deserves, I will mostly be headed to Uttarkhand region. Hopefully I'll revive this thread with a longer stay palnned here.
