You can mention the flight timings, which would help. If you are taking an early morning flight on day 1, you can reach Sohra that day itself, which would allow you an extra day.

Roads were good till Mawsynram a month back when i went there, and tempo traveller should ideally reach there, but not so sure about the Mawphanlur side.

I have been to Mawphanlur about a fortnight back from Mawphlang. It was a tarred road until about 100m to the gate of Traveller's Nest. The road is wide enough for a tempo traveller to reach at least 100m before the gate. Please see the attached picture.

Traveller's Nest has only two cottages, which can accommodate 3 adults in each cottage. However, they have extra mattresses with blankets. In the picture, the two cottages are in the middle, while the one on the left is Caretaker's residence with Dinning Room on the first floor.

Wasim, since you reach at 8:30 AM, you can easily get to Mawlongbna (mawsynram) or Mawphanlur, that day itself, along with some sightseeing on the way. Suggest you reach there and then may be follow the route Mawphanlur-Mawlongbna- Mawphlang - Sohra - Dawki - shillong. If you really want to stay at umiam lake, you can also stopover on the return.

On Dawki stay, decide between Dawki and Shnongpdeng, I preferred Shnongpdeng and stayed there at Manbha's homestay. lovely place and probably the best place to stay there. Manbha is a nice guy. If your choice is Dawki, Lamin has a guest house there, and though i did not visit it, pics looked decent enough. Lamin anyways would provide you with boating and water activities.

My experience with most homestays in Meghalaya was good. I prefer to stay in Shnongpdeng due to solitude and waterports without too much rush of tourists. So shatsngi should also be good. did not see it there, so no clues. Halatong (Manbha) was good and he was around to help us around. When you are there, the new restaurant which has come up (Beetlenut) was pretty good and worth trying. They deliver at room, plus you can take the 5 minute walk from shnongpdeng.. We also did campfire by the river at a very reasonable cost, and is a good option there. Lamin guest house i think is in dawki, which is a bit of crowded location. Thats why i avoided it, but you can take your own call

October is a very good month, but not sure whether the water in the Umngot river be crystal clear.
