Shillong accommodation

Last year I stayed at Hotel Orchid, a hotel owned and managed by Meghalaya Tourism Dev Corprn. They have 3 types of rooms Economy (not good), semi-delux (ok) and Dlx (very good). This is old property with large rooms (you won't find such large sized rooms now-a-days)with wooden flooring. Another advantage is that all the MTDC Sightseeing buses originates from this place. The Hotel have reasonably good restaurant. You can goggle and get the contact number and book the Hotel over phone. Hope this helps. Thanks

I have recently been to Shillong and stayed at Hotel boulevard. It is just above Domino's restaurant. A good accomodation for the price.

Good clean rooms and even good veg restaurant, although we preferred the non veg Domino's Pizza..

2 determining factors when you choose a hotel in Shillong:

1) Proximity to the city centre (Police Bazaar), where you get all the eateries and taxi stands, etc. Basically thats the only lively place in Shillong. - I had stayed at Hotel MiCasa (it has a website too Hotel Micasa Website ) and it was good. Please be aware that the hotels near Police Bazaar is a bit on the higher cost side. However its convenient to roam around in the evenings and also the logistics arrangements needs to be done from Police Bazaar Area, or else you will be left at the mercy of the hotel quotations.

2) Away from the crowd in some desolate, calm and quiet area - I dont exactly remember the name, but there are a couple of very nice properties.

Karikor, our Meghalaya expert will be able to help you better on the names.
