Hello friends,I am a bit confused regarding the type of India visa I will apply for in my country before entering India to get married to my India fience.i actually meet her in India during the time I went with business visa in 2012 but we managed to visit her family members and took some pictures together but I couldn't stay longer than the validity of old business visa,I have no other option than to return back to Nigeria but promise her and the family members that I will come again probably to my fience and take her to my country if possible.we have only been talking on phone calls since 2012 to this year 2017 and now I'm ready to go and meet her parents and family members again and also get my fience married.so my big question goes the way.please what can of visa will I apply for at the India embassy in home country before entering India to get married as my only intention is to meet with her family member again then get married.please I need urgent answers please.thanks everyone in the house.

If they don't ask, then don't tell. It is rarely a good idea to volunteer additional information during interaction with authorities.

Just ask for a standard tourist visa. If they raise problems then you still have time to develop an alternative strategy. Make 200% sure that you have all required documentation with you for a marriage in India.

Maybe the best thing is to get a friend to ask at your local Indian Embassy what is required?

Beware of scams too!

thankgod, you need advice from people of your own country. What people here are telling you, that applies in Europe, America, etc, may or may not apply in African states. Sad but true.

If you can get a tourist visa easily, then just do it. India has no visa category for fiances. If you want to live in India, you can seek to convert your visa to an "Entry" ("X") visa after your marriage.

If for some reason you can't get to India, then I guess the bride to be should fly (as in take a plane, not elope) to Nigeria and you could get married there. IF she/her family agrees. I already wonder about this 5-year long distance courtship (no offense meant).

But take it one step at a time.

Your fiancÚ should ask the marriage registrar (the office which is responsible for her place of living) which documents you will need. Generally (and not more!) you need a valid passport with a valid visa, a birth certificate and some sort of proof that you are unmarried, maybe a proof of your address also. But she needs to check because it can vary a bit from office to office what they want to see. Sometimes it needs to be legalized as well. Ideally, they give the information in writing to her.

It is advisable to marry under the Special Marriage Act first, which means an unromantic paperwork at the office of the marriage registrar. And if you want to have a blessing in a temple, church or where ever, to do that afterwards. Or do you have other plans? Does she want to marry under one of the other marriage acts?
