Dear Friends,

I have gone through many of the posts here regarding marriage with foreigners.
I am going to marry a lady from Tbilis, Georgia next year. And still confused with which kind of visa she should apply.

She will be coming to India with me and stay here..

now my questions

1)Can she be an Indian citizen like me and stay here forever without visa problems? Will she get Indian passport? or PIO card for 15 years is the solution?
2)PIO card is only for 15 years? after that again it have to be renewed?
3)In which visa she should come to India so that we can register our mariage here and after 1 year she can apply for PIO card?
4)Is it proper to come here on tourist visa and change it to X-visa after marriage, and after 1 year apply for PIO card? or she can take x-visa directly from her country?
5)After getting PIO card is it possible for her to go outside india and work there?

I will be very thankfull if u can provide your valuable information on this matter....

Welcome to India Mike, cooldxb. To the best of my knowledge here are answers to your questions:
1. She can't become an Indian citizen until after a certain no. of years of marriage with you - I think it's 6.
2.PIO Card is renewable after the 15 years
3. I doubt if she can get an x category longer term stay Visa until after you are married - in the meanwhile she should apply for a Tourist Visa. I think you can, after the marriage, apply for x-category one within India to extend her Visa validity, until you have been married 12 months and then can apply for PIO card. These things can all be done in India - you will have to be in one of the metros to do so - but they are easier done in country of origin for your wife.
3. Yes, with PIO card she still retains her own country passport - hence she can work back in her own country if she goes back.
Every cloud has a silver lining!

cooldxb, welcome to the site and congratulations on your forthcoming marriage.

I think Aishah has pretty well summed up the situation, but do, please, browse and search the forum before asking further questions --- this topic is well covered here.

Having done that, you're welcome to post any particular worries or enquiries you are left with.
Life gets aadhar every day.
