Okay, its a fairly easy procedure. They have to get a marriage license valid for 90 days. Please contact the County Clerk/Recorder’s Office in the county
where you will be applying for the marriage license, or performing the marriage ceremony. The Pujari must complete that within 10 days of the marriage and you get a certificate. India had better recognize a US marriage. They accept Indian marriages right & left at the US INS. Many are far less official looking. My slip was pretty modest & worn (my spouse carried it in India for some time to prove matters, nobody even asked). It sufficed for the US INS. It will suffice for India where a lot less suffices. Besides they can tell from the sad look on the husband's face that he is married. Indian Passports is a whole other issue..

Yes. No problem. The priest has to file it with City Hall or Town Hall. My understanding is that many go get married in City hall, and then have a religious ceremony anywhere in the state or country or the world

Nah just did it the other way around. Tried to get Mahaguru as my job title when I had serious political power. But, everybody just looked at me as having lost my mind. Note that like India the details of the marriage process vary across the state from county to county slightly. I believe they send the couple a marriage certificate after they receive the license from the Pujari. An important exclusion is same sex marriages. Yeh, I know San Fransisco, yada, yada... But, California is a state of mind not a state. Which temple are they marrying at? A huge one was just built in California.
Enjoy the wedding from all of us..
