Hi,

My surname is changed in marriage certificate, however i have not got any of the documents changed. My husband is going to US for business and he wants me too join. Since my husband's name is not in spouse column in my passport. Will there be any difficulty in getting tourist visa if we apply as married couple. Please help.

Hi shragalaxy, and welcome to IndiaMike

I don't think you need to apply as a married couple. Your hubby will get his Business visa using his workplace credentials, I presume, and you will get your Tourist visa directly.

Your marriage certificate will have your maiden surname and your passport should have the same name. There should be no name-related issues for the two of you to get your US visas.

Good luck!

Is this for Business-business, or employment/business ? There is too much fluidity on the ground. In absence of clear directives, or permanent positions hired by the current administration, Spousal visas to join are unpredictable.

The visa officer considers each application form as individual. They consider the name as mentioned in the passport, so it should be captured in the form as mentioned in the passport.

They will not count discrepancy in the surname mentioned in the marriage certificate.
