I am an Indian citizen. And my girlfriend is an Italian citizen. I wish to get married to her in Italy and apply for Italian citizenship. We wish to live together in Italy. My job is flexible and allows me to work from anywhere.

I would be really glad if you could help me with the following questions below. Thank you so much.

1. What visa /documents will I need to marry an Italian citizen in Italy?

2. Can I enter Italy with a Tourist visa and marry her in Italy? Or what is the necessary visa required to marry her in Italy?

3. Is it easier for an Italian to come to India and get married or vice versa? Which would be easier for us?

Goal is to get married and live in Italy together.

I appreciate your responses.

Visa question i will leave alone for the moment. The Question #2 causes problems for Question #1

All your documents have to be translated into Italian, and certified by the Italian Embassy in New Delhi. Namely your birth certificate and your No Impediment statement.

It is easier to get married in India, and ask her to explore with her foreign ministry how to get married at the Embassy in New Delhi. Or, you can marry under SMA (Special Marriage Act)

Hello, I'm an Italian married to an Indian, we married in April and I can help you to understand how difficult is to marry in Italy for an Indian.
Italy is asking a document (Nulla Osta) that doesn't exist at all in India, you can get a Wedding Affidavit, spend money to translate it in Italian and to get official ministery apostille like we did before to go to Italy but this document will be rejected from any municipality office in Italy. They will suggest you how to do: get a lawyer and go to a court, wait something between 6 months to one year to get a verdict that is 90% going to be positive. This is the Italian way to skip this bureaucratic gap between Italy and India (and others countries actually).
Here is what you have to do instead if you want to marry your girlfriend:
1- MARRY IN INDIA! I wish me and my husband we did it instead of struggling so much in Europe.
2- If you really want to marry in Europe go to Denmark. There is an island in Denmark called Aero where you can marry only with your passports. No need of other documents. After the wedding you go to Cophenaghen, get an official translation in Italian and register the wedding at the Italian Consulate, in 3-4 days it will get to the municipality office of your girlfriend town and it is worldwide valid. Cost of this? About 1500 euros between the wedding, the travel to Denmark and everything connected.

Forget to do it in Italy during the time of your tourist visa not because it is not allowed but because you don't have time. Also if it is your first Shengen visa they will not give you 3 months. To my husband they give one moth visa Business after proof of business fairs in Italy, bank account, flight tickets, medical insurance and much more, he is a reputable business man here in India but because he is young they scared he didn't come back . If he was asking for tourist visa was not getting more than 3 weeks in my opinion.
Hope this help you sort out how to do.

Thank you for settling it for people who might otherwise not believe a word of what others might say

I'm a Japanese national married to a Indian.
As people have already mentioned, it would probably be better to get married in India. It's probably lot easier for Italian to get visa (90 days tourist visa?) to India then Indian getting visa to Italy.

I think you need to realize that getting married to foreign national won't automatically guarantee long term visa or citizenship. Even after 2 years of marriage, my wife still has to apply for single entry visa to Japan every time we visit.

Good luck!
