Hello everybody,

I am new here and hope i can get some answers from you I did not find anything related to my question so i opened a new threat.

I (german) married my indian spouse some time ago and we went through a hard time to get our marriage registrated. But finally we did. Phew!

After a couple of times at the local FRO, they told us we have all the documents required to get my visa converted to an entry (x) visa and get myself registred. The only thing that we need additionally is a letter in which i write that i want to get my visa converted. I asked them what exactly has to be written in that letter and if it needs a special form, but all i was told was that i have to ask for conversion in the letter. I think they were also not sure what they want.
So i made an affidavit and declared, that i married my husband on this and that date and mentioned his and my passportnumber and that i seek for visa conversion and registration at our local FRO and so on. But when we came back , he said affidavit is not what they need, just a letter with a photo and again i did not get a presise answer what exactly they want to be written in that.

Anybody here who had to write something like this? And what all did you mention and what do they want to hear? Adress, Date of marriage, Passportnumber, Visanumber and so on? Please help. We already spent so much time and money on the whole thing, that's so frustrating.

Sorry for my bad english by the way and thanks everybody for some answers.

You are over-complicating this. For some reason, a covering letter seems to be needed with things like this: it is not enough to just fill in all the forms and attach all the documents, you need to write a letter saying that you have filled in all the forms, attached all the documents, here they are, and would they please convert your T visa to an X visa accordingly, and you are most grateful for their assistance with that.

That's all.

Add...

Further to my marriage to _______, an Indian Citizen and holder of Indian Passport number _____

Include the what and the why. The salient facts, but briefly --- and throw a little bit of grovelling in at the end. It's a winning formula

Thank you guys

when i read your replies, then i really think i was over complicating all the things. but in fact, everything was so complicated here so far with all the documents and so on, that maybe i could not imagine that the letter they want is so easy and simple. thank you once again and i will let you know, what they say at the fro tomorrow.

This is the equivalent of a formloser Antrag in good old Germany.
