Hi,

I am an Indian and planning to get married to a Pakistani guy who works in UK on work permit.

I would like to know what kind of hurdles I could face while applying for spousal visa to join my husband in UK.

- If In need to get a NOC from the Indian embassy prior to my marriage as we are planning to marry in a third country ( to avoid the hurdle of him getting entry visa in India).

Your Prospective spouse might know better what troubles you might face as the immigrant spouse of another immigrant on work permit. A reading of the UK India consulate site might give you an idea of what to expect.

Depends on the third country's Marriage rules. Without knowing which Third country, its not possible to speculate.

Search this forum. There have been several long discussions in the past few months about paperwork and visas for Indo-Pak marriages, and also about places to get married outside of India for various reasons.

I don't know of any NOC like what you ask about. My Indian fiancee got a visitors visa to the US and we got married there. He didn't need any permission from India to do that. That marriage certificate has served for both of us to get visas to US or India ever since, with no additional document needed.

If there is any way you can visit the UK and marry him there it might be the easiest in the long run but I don't know about the details of that for you.

I doubt you can just arrive and get married. American citizens are required to get clearance in advance. I guess it is a) tougher for an Indian b) More difficult for a non EU resident in UK on work visa. This is US to UK link, some fundamentals will be the same, others will differ drastically.

No you do not need any permission from India
You can marry in UK( as your fiance is not British)or even in India that is upto you, but there will always be slow to issue visa to Pakistani nationals although they have made it a bit easier now for Pakistanis to visit India
Your visa to Pakistan will not be an issue nor your visit to Uk

http://www.india.org.pk/visitors-visa.html

The duration of stay of the visitor will be endorsed on the visa and it shall, at a time, not exceed the period endorsed, and it can be up to three months.

Upon presentation of necessary documentary evidence in this regard, a visitor visa for a maximum of five specified places may be issued for a longer period of up to two years with multiple entries to:

a) Senior citizens (those above 65 years of age);
b) Pakistani national, married to an Indian national; and
c) Children below 12 years of age accompanying parent(s) as given in (b) above.

Op should actually go to pakistan to see if she can live there. After all, the man is only on a work permit, and it need not be renewed all the time. And pakistanis have a hard time getting indian visas.

Why are you worried about Visas if you love someone
Why is Visa a question to get married, we live in a global village, for gods sake
Passports and nationalities are created by man/people
Please go ahead and get married and you will figure things out as you progress

I know many people who were and some still on a work permit when they got married and eventually they got British or US nationalities and some people went to India or some to Pakistan and very happy

it is because marriages are made in heaven, but we have to live our lives here on earth. Defeats the purpose completely.

PS : if you have money, do a sania mirza.

The reason I say this is because I was an Indian who married a Pakistani whilst on a work permit in the UK
We never had issues before and
Now with the grace of God, we both are British and we do not have any issues and all this time we have travelled to each others countries
We take emirates airlines go to Pakistan then walk to Amritsar and then take a flight back from Kolkata to London by emirates
