Dear Friends,

I'm an Indian Muslim girl and my guy is from Pakistan Karachi. We are planning to get married in a few days,he will be coming to india and we will do a court marriage as well as Nikaah.... can someone help us with the formalities required for me to get a visa and how do I settle down in Pakistan with him, without having to travel to India in every 30 days, since the visit visa is valid only for 3months and that too multiple entries.
He does travel to india very often for his work related trips, so if in future i have to travel to India, he can bring me on a short work visit visa.
But for now we need to know what are the requirements to go with him and settle down in Pakistan...Urgent help plzzzzz?????????

This is Indiamike, focussed on travel related forum for India. For how to settle down in Pakistan you will have to inquire and research the requirements from the Pakistani mission nearest to you.

For you to have India "visa" you would have to a) Acquire Pakistani citizenship b) Surrender your Indian citizenship - This will not happen overnight or even in a few months.

The person whom you are marrying would have to negotiate the bureaucracy of Pakistan and figure out what documents and manusha is necessary to successfully have you move there

Did you peruse the Pakistani Embassy website ?

You are trying to find out about Visas to Pakistan and how to settle / live there long term a few days before your Nikaah ? Wow, Brave Lady.

If your fiancee makes frequent trips to India, then he may be more informed about what it takes to get anything that allows a longer term stay in either country. In addition start with looking at the nearest Pakistani Consulate to you about Visas and/or other documentation for living there on account of marriage. It probably is easier if the marriage is with first cousins.

There are a few members here who have done things in reverse, i.e Indian men who married Pakistani Women and brought them here to live.

There used to be a Consulate in Mumbai, but is currently not operational. So the only option looks like the main Embassy in Delhi:

hey Fatima.... thank goodness i found some other "girl" planning to marry a pakistani.
please can "you" let me know the formalities "you'd" be going through. Though we dont plan to settle down in either of the countries for some years.... instead we "are" planning to get settled in some other country to avoid all hassels. But still i would like to know the procedure and since you would be having the first hand experience, would really appreciate if you can help! Thanks

Fatima didn't return to update this thread. It probably would have helped some people if she did.

Sania Mirza need not write a book as there is so much written about their wedding. Plus, its different for celebrities, i am more interested in knowing about how normal people have managed going through all this and still manage to be with their loved one's.

Dear Fatima,
It would be really very kind of you if you can let us know your first hand experience about all this.

I think if you read most of the newspaper articles, they are about salacious details of his first wife, and her being the second wife etc...those are not of interest, how she navigated the legal system, and how they decided on settling in dubai or whatever sheikdom they picked. that is of relevance to this question on hand.

If you look carefully, there was one success reported thread in India mike. I cannot search for it now, as i do not recall the names of the posters or the thread tags.

If your intention is to get married and live in a third country, then it is going to be just another marriage like many others that happens everyday. Meet the requirements for marriage in the country that you want to get married/live in and live happily.

Worry about the requirements when you plan to move to either country.

You would have to search for forum(s) used by expats in UAE in either Urdu, or Arabic. Also search for list of documents required in the city/sultanate in the UAE where you will settle down.
