Hi,

I'll be visiting Malvan/Tarkarli next weekend with my wife. We're staying at a homestay in Tarkarli on day 1 and devbag on day 2. We have made the required reservations. But there are a couple of things we are concerned about.

1) We're not sure if 3 days and 2 nights is too much for the place. Our objective is to do some water sports, explore the place a bit and basically, just relax. Is there something that is "absolutely do not miss" which we must do in the 3 days?

2) From what i've heard, the public transport in Malvan is pretty bad and we're not looking to take a cab everywhere we go. What we do like is a good 2 wheeler on rent for a couple of days. Is there any place where i can get a 2 wheeler on rent in Tarkarli/Malvan or the nearest railway station Kudal.

We reach Kudal on Friday morning. What is the best way to get to Tarkarli? Is there any chance of getting a vehicle on rent in Kudal?

Thanks a lot in advance

You can get an auto from Kudal railway station to Tarkarli.

Regarding a two wheeler on rent ask the home stay owner. They might be able to arrange for one.

You could visit the fort in Malvan. You could also visit Tondavali beach around 20 kms from Malvan.

Thanks a lot. I'll do as said. I'll call up the hotel owner to see if he can arrange one for the weekend.

3 days 2 nights would suffice. Water sports is available on the confluence of karli river with Arabian sea (at devbagh beach). Relax and Chivla, Tarkarli, Nivti beach.

Our hotel owner provided us with his nano, with minimal charge. Upon local inquiry, one guy told me that there is a bike hire next to ST bus stand in Malvan. I am not sure about it. Just a hear say. Do let us know once you been there.
Tourist spots are very close to each other (wont be more than 20km round trip starting from malvan), a rickshaw can do the job, also there are frequent buses from Kudal to Malvan, Malvan to Tarkarli.

practically, you are staying at homestays at-most 2 km apart, without much difference in the ambiance. its basically on the same road.

Its enough. scuba diving + malvan fort will consume half a day and will leave you dead tired to do other sports. This can be done from tarkarli. In the evening you can rent a rickshaw and head to malvan to check out a few spots there.

Other watersports can be done from devbag. i think the best time for watersports there is just before sunset.

If you can get a bike - like others have pointed out - I'd recommend to take some time out for the southern beaches opposite devbag; namely bhogwe, and nivati. devbag/tarkarli will be crowded on the long weekend, but not these places. If you do end up going to Nivti, halt for lunch at Bhogate's Mess at Mhapan on the way.

Hi All,

Can you suggest some nice homestay options in Tarkarli/Malvan for a family of 3, including a 4-year old?

Thanks!

Check the homestays approved by MTDC.

Ghar Mithbavkarche is one near Tarkarli beach. There are many more at Tarkarli and Devbag.
