I am planning to visit the area in the 2nd week of Oct. My itinerary is as follows start from Pune-> Harihareshwar->Anjarle->Jaigad->Ganpatiphule-> Ratnagiri->Tarkarli. via MSH4 and back to Pune via expressway. Will be taking Self drive rental car from Pune. Any pointers or things to do enroute or not to be missed .....are heartily welcome........

From Ratnagiri you can take the road from Amberi bridge. Kunkeshwar is around 130 kms from Ratnagiri. From Kunkeshwar take the Mitbhav - Achhra bridge and go to Malvan.

Will you be taking the Verandah ghat route to reach Mumbai Goa highway?

Thks Aarosh!

My plan is to travel by via MSH4 from Harihareshwar to Malvan. I will be depending on google and some extract from other forums. I think route you suggested falls on the route I planned.

It will be great help if u can suggest which part of MSH4 can be avoided, without compromising the essence of journey, as it is slower than the highway.

Thnx

There are a couple of threads by members who have taken the MSH4. Patilshushant001 is one, Vaibhav Arora is another. Read their trip reports for more information.

How will you reach Harihareshwar from Pune?

The stretch from Jaigad to Ganpatipule is usually in a bad state due to movement of trucks. The stretch from Velas down to Anjarle was also not that great as I remember. Haven't been in recent times though. Anjanvel to Hedvi stretch is narrow and steep at places.

The stretch from Ratnagiri down to Malvan had some good tarmac when I took a trip down in April.

You may check my blog post on Ratnagiri for places nearby. There are some very good threads on Konkan here in the forum too.

Hi ! Aarosh and Kapilankar!!!!!

Thnx for your suggestions. I completed my trip on 14th.I took the self drive car from Pune to Pune. The entire route was very scenic such as Tamihini Ghat and MSH 4. The route was in ok condition. The Jaigad _Ganpatiphule -Ratnagiri strecth was excellent.

Cheers
