Felt like a outing. I like (esp Jan Shatabdi) train rides. Like to walk around.

The day was dull & hazy, and I'm not very good at photos. Pic taken with my mobile :

05.25 - Jan Shatabdi & seating in 2S

09.30 - Chiplun station & bridge to Chiplun town

10.30 - Datta Mandir

... rest coming up.

OK, I got lost a few times. And searched for the Pandava caves, no luck. Even the locals could not help out.

12.30 - Maap bridge to Gowalkot & rice stacks along the way

Got lost again.

14.30 - Karanjeshwari temple.

Totally exhausted by now. Feet & calves were cramping. Day was hotter than I expected.

15.00 - Trek to Gowalkot fort & view along the way

Nothing much left of the fort except some ruins. View is 360 degrees and spectacular from the fort.

15.30 - Gowalkot fort & views

By now I was totally exhausted & dehydrating. Walked down, took a wrong path along the way, backed up. From the road near the temple took a shared auto to Maap bridge.

Vada pav & samosa near Datta Mandir

Paratha and bhaji & Lassi at Kwality, Main street.

Limped back to the station. Took Jan Shatabdi back.

Wish someone posts exact directions & locations of the "Pandava Caves". I still need to visit the Parashurama Temple & Sawatsada Waterfalls.
Maybe next monsoon ;-)

gbr, why delete the thread? It would be great to see your pics.

Go to each post in this thread. Click on 'EDIT'. Click on 'Go Advanced'. Click on the 'paper-clip' sign. A new page will open. Attach your photos, one by one, from your comp. (They should be within the size limits mentioned there). You can attach up to 10 images at a time. Click on upload. Once uploaded, you can close the 'manage attachments' window. Return to your post being edited. Click on the paper-clip image. Attach all the pics. Wrap the text around the pics. Save the editing page. Move on to edit the next post.

It is easier than it sounds and you'll soon get the hang of it. Try it.

[Pics] Parshuram Mandir

I walked from Chiplun station to Parshuram Mandir. Pics of all the mandirs in the complex, first two are panos.
The view while walking up to the mandir is spectacular - includes Chiplun, Vashisthi river, Gowalkot fort and surrounding areas - no picture can capture it all. I might put up a video on Youtube later.

Walking to Parshuram mandir from Chiplun station.

There are many routes from Chiplun station to Parshuram mandir. Most people stop their cars on the Mumbai-Goa highway and walk up the steps. If you are walking from the station, this might help. I could not find this info on the net so ...

Walk on the road from the station to point (A) - you will pass under the railway tracks on the way. The road is along the tracks.

At point A take the (narrower) road going towards Kamdhenu temple (B). Visit the temple and then continue down the same road to point (C).

At (C) there are steps leading to the highway.

Cross the highway, there are some more steps (D) leading to Parshuram mandir (E).

If you like to walk/hike a bit, check Google maps there are many paths from the road (where point A is on) to the highway and from the highway to the mandir. While going to the mandir I took one of those paths. It was fun but exhausting, the view is superb.
