I want to travel from Hyderabad (AP) to Amarkantak by train. Like to know:
1. What are the trains available (direct or indirect routes)?
(I checked Pendra road/Anuppur Jn are nearest rail stn, but not finding proper trains from Hydb)
2. Winter (Dec/Jan months) should be best to visit or not?
3. Any festival at Amrkantak during winter?
4. What are other surrounding places to visit?
5. Hotels/lodges to stay at Amarkantak?
6. Appreciate if you please share your experince of Amarkantak?

Thanks.

Pendra Road is on the Katni Bilaspur line, I think both these places have a direct connection with Hyderabad.

We visited Amarkantak during the first days of February, the evenings where chilly but the daily temperatures were great.

In that year, 2009, there was a big saddhu festival on February 2th, it was the day that we were to leave so I don't know anything about it.

MP tourism has a hotel there but it was booked, we stayed in hotel Sarvodaya.

With a local guide we had a great day in the environment of Amrakantak visiting viewpoints and saddhu's.
