Rather than Karwar I would recommend going a bit further down and reach Gokarna. Karwar is a sleepy place with an ugly oil terminal... and a giant Naval base under construction..
Look around and chose your own ground
For long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be...

Last ride : Bhutan, Arunachal, Sikkim.. (Where do I ride next?)

Karwar has a nice aquarium near the beach. Our then 3-year-old son enjoyed visiting it in January 1996. There is a fine Indian Coffee House in Karwar. We stayed in a government bungalow a couple blocks west of the Indian Coffee House. Each bed had its own mosquito net. One afternoon we had a taxi take us across a river north of Karwar to a temple on the east side of the road. From the temple we climbed a hill to get a superb view of the sunset with a couple long narrow islands in the foreground of the Arabian Sea. When it got dark we returned to Karwar in our waiting taxi. We spent a night in Karwar coming and going between Goa and Gokarna. If I am ever again in the neighborhood I would spend a night in Karwar again.
