My wife Judy and I and our 7 year old twins are going to Goa from Dec 23rd this year to Jan 11th 2005. We would like to stay in a quiet undeveloped place on a beach. Because my wife has some health problems it is essential that we have our own private bathroom. We don't want to stay in a Western style hotel but do need high levels of comfort and cleanliness.

From reading the Lonely Planet guide the places that sound like what we want are

Mandrem
Benaulim
Agonda
Patnem

We want to book in advance as we need the security of knowing where we are staying.

We should be grateful for any suggestions and or advice.

Hi

Most hotels in Goa cater for the Western tourist trade, Not many are directly on the beach and if they are on the beach usually very expensive.

I would reccommend the following

Villa Goesa in Baga two minutes stroll to beach clean modern good staff nice rooms

Fort Agauda beach resort Candolim situated on the beach very pricey posh restraunts

Fort Tiracol Heritage resort absolutley atmospheric but very remote good for perhaps only a few days.
The hotel has about ten rooms all very nice and is a converted fort with fantastic veiws over Qeurim Beach, It has recently been renovated by some Germans and is worth visiting evan for a day out (general public are allowed to visit the grounds during the day)

If you end up stopping in Baga or calangute a taxi takes about an hour for about 400 rps return, scenery fantastic
