learning sanskrit

i want to learn Sanskrit right from the basics..never learnt the language before..i have started taking interest in various vedic mantras and chants...in order for the mantra to work,the right kind of pronunciation is of utmost importance..and since most of our works are in sanskrit or pali,i would like to learn the language..any suggestions for teachers in mumbai??i know mumbai unversity has a course but that is M.A...and im already doing my M.A in english literature...all suggestions are welcome...

For sanskrit learning see http://www.samskritabharati.org/sb/ They also conduct "talk in samskrit" classes where you begin to talk in simple sanskrit in just 10 days.

For Veda mantras learning, contact a priest in your residential area... but most priests won't teach women..

Learning Sanskrit is a dream for me ... God knows when it will become a reality.

May be the site adviced by Avid would be a turning point.

I agree with AvidTrekker's suggestions. I would add that quite a bit would depend on the degree of your desire. If you choose to immerse yourself full time, there are other deeper options.
