Hi all,

Not sure if I've got the brains anymore, but does anyone know where an absolute beginner might find Hindi lessons in London, or even better (but more unlikely) Kent?

Thanks for any wisdom (or should that be धन्यवाद?),

Giles.

London is filled with lot of Indians so there should be some schools there I guess.

Or you can make some friend there.

Lightbulb

Try Gravesend Don't know where you are. Wouldn't have thought it was difficult. Have you tried night school classes at local colleges?

Hi GP&D,
In London, there are adult beginner classes in Hindi (and other Indian languages) at King's College.

From what little information I have heard, the classes run if and when there are enough applicants.

Good luck.

Check out The Mary Ward Centre in London (it's near Russell Square tube station)

www.marywardcentre.ac.uk

It's a really great place for adult learners with a wide variety of interesting courses.
They have Hindi courses for beginners & more advanced levels. The course brochure for 2015-16 has recently been published, you can download it from the website or email them to request a hard copy.
There is a beginners Hindi course running on Monday afternoons & another on Thursday evenings starting in September.
I studied there for a term before a long stay in North India a few years back & would recommend it.
Thinking of going back there myself as I want a refresher. Also, they now teach Devanagari script alongside the spoken language, which they didn't previously, and I'd like to learn to read/write basic Hindi.
Maybe see you there!

PS SOAS (University of London) also have Hindi classes, but when I was looking they were a lot more expensive. City Lit also used to run a beginners course.
