Hello strangers!
I'm dating a guy from Goa who speaks beautiful English, but every once in a while I wish I could say something sweet to him in his native tongue. I've been searching online and there aren't very many clear resources for learning Konkoni phrases, and even less that seem reliable...
I could just ask him to teach me, but I wanted to surprise him a little.
Anyone have a phrase or two they could teach me?

“Haanv thuka mog karta” means I love you
Pronunciation is tough to explain in English, but let me try
Thuka (‘Thu’ as in Thursday)
Mog (Mowg as in Mowgli)

“Tu aaz baa-ri boro distai” means you’re looking very good today
Baari (re as in relay)
Boro (bow-row say it as one word)
Distai (This-thai day it as one word)

Hope he understands 😊

I could help you with some common phrases - I think he would love some of these too.
You could try if you want.

How are you - Kaso aha? (english pronunciation - kso (short or absent 'a') and also half 'a' in aha)

I was missing you - Aun tuka miss kartale. (aoun, as in noun but with the last n almost silent and for kartale - keep the 'a' soft)

Lets go roaming? - Bhavpak vachuyat? (its getting too complicated to put in the english pronunciation, may be I will add more later)
Sar Pass Trek , Rohtang, Munnar, Badrinath Kedarnath, Vaishnodevi, Goa, VOF, Kedarkantha, Kuari Pass, Brahmatal Trek

Hope it works better than what I was told to say to men in Egypt decades ago. It came out as something like I am a CIA agent show me to your missile base. To the extent it was understood it created considerable amusement. Fortunately, I never tried what I was to say to women..

If you have a smart phone download the English to Konkoni app. You'll be able to hear how to pronounce what you want to say.
