Dear friends,
If everything goes well Ill be in Lakshadweep during end of December 2015 . Already booked the ticket to Kochi and Samudram package. Ship will depart (as announced) on 26th December and return (o Kochi) on 30th Dec.
Again it was tricky to book the trip during this peak touristy season. Thanks to fellow IMers for your blogs where everyone has mentioned to book this trip in advance. Ive started my communication with SPORTS since July and this was the first reply from the authority:

-------------------
Dear Sir,
If you are looking for Samudram tour or Silver Sand tour any month from October,2015 to May 2016, please do contact us by Aug,2015( for date wise booking). If you would like to stay in Islands from October,2015 to May 2016, will be accepted now. If you are ready to book Samudram tour in any of the week in any month by making advance, we are ready to reserved the required seat on receipts of the payments. ( required week must be mentioned)

-------------------
But when we called them once again for the advance payment / booking for 4th week of Dec we came to know that it is already full !!!!!
Ive similar experience in North Sikkim / Panchachuli route where tour operators rule . So started to contact tour operators who can provide a confirmed booking during 25th Dec. And luckily one operator offered me confirmed seat for the same week (SPORTS said its sold out) !!!!

OK, Ive two more days in my hand 31st 1st Jan so decided to have a quick visit to Munnar. It would be very helpful if anyone can give me a rough idea regarding Kochi to Munnar drop. May be a share taxi / car (small car would be fine) rental.

Thumbs up Lakshadweep is a must see.....

Hi friends,
We had a great time in Lakshadweep Island. My friemds and fellow IMers know that I am not that interested in beach destinations rather I prefer to travel in Himalayas. But, this was an exception...... on must visit L'dweep to understand what exactly the diversity means - OK, I had never been to Andaman so just not sure is sea beaches are even better or not. But my fellow travelers who have covered both Andaman and L'dweep they said L'dweep is better. The lagoon ..... color of the water is far superior !!!!

When I was planning to visit L'dweep I was going through the trip reports in Indiamike - as usual it a goldmine of authentic info and firsthand information. And honestly speaking there is nothing new to mention in my TR - its already there in different threads. I must thank Sshiv for his wonderful description in this thread: http://www.indiamike.com/india/laksh...enity-t184556/

- trust me, during my entire trip everything was just like it is described in this thread

First we went to Minicoy then Kavaratti and then Kalpeni. I am sharing my photo graphs in FB: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=49cf3b49d4
(I guess no need to login to FB)

@Panda Bear : on 31st Dec I was in Munnar and it was just an avg. touristy day in Munnar. Nothing spl except some rooftop parties in hotels/resorts.

Thank you...

Lakshwadeep winter 2016 help needed

Hi. I am planning to book the Swaying palms package to Minicoy for this winter. Can anyone who has been on the Samundaram or Swaying Palms package tell me approximately what time the ship docks in Cochin on return so that I can plan my further travel accordingly. I know it comes in the first half, but approximately what time will we disembark.

Also, is it necessary to report to SPORTS office the day before the journey or is it OK if I reach Cochin the previous evening and report on the journey morning itself?

Thanks a lot for any help in advance!

I was on Samundaram package and if I am able to remember correctly, we kept our heavy bags ready after breakfast ..... porters took them and disembarkation started between 9.00 - 9.30 AM. By 10.30 we started for Munnar.

No need to report before the journey date...... be there on the morning.

Happy traveling

Question Eternal Traveller

Thank You for the information. I have the following questions in mind:
1) Is there any difference in rates for Samudram package if we book the Tour with SPORTS instead of with other contact tour operators ?
2) In the Official Website for SPORTS, I find a couple of of Packages such as SWAYING PALM PACKAGE (Minicoy), MARINE WEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME (Kadmat), TARATASHI PACKAGE (Kavaratti). All these packages provide for Travel and Accomodation for only 1 of the Islands. Do you have any idea if SPORTS provides a package that involves staying on multiple Islands?
