Hello Fellow Travellers,

Thank you for the great information about the islands on other threads.

I was looking forward for a trip to Lakshdweep this April (inspired by awesome photographs on threads in this forum and Wife's demand not to go to the 'Hills', but something different). I inquired with the SPORTS on phone and they mentioned that the Agatti island is closed for tourists at this moment. They said they did not have a clue whether it would be opened in April. Though they offered packages to other islands.

Inquired with tour operators like makemytrip, etc. and they too confirmed that they cannot offer any packages for Lakshdweep at the moment.

I was planning to take the Air-India flight to Agatti from Cochin and then proceed with the trip.

I also sent an email to the office which issues the permits, but no response.

Anybody has idea about this? I do gather from the threads that other islands are very beautiful, but then I need to take a ship from Cochin, which I wanted to avoid.

Regards,

Stay at Kadmat

Hi Please read my detailed review here

http://www.tripadvisor.in/ShowUserRe...kshadweep.html

In short - you can fly to agatti and take a boat to Kadmat / Bangaram or Thinakara.

My recommendation would be to spend 3 night at least at Kadmat. and one or two nights at Thinakara or bangaram.

Simply because Kadmat is better in terms of facility and you will feel comfortable in the AC rooms. The beaches are beautiful too.

Less time in bangaram/ thinakara because they are beautiful islands and you should not miss them. But these are tented accommodations and afternoons can be scorching and uncomfortable.

We planned for 4 nights at kadmat and 1 night at bangaram. But ended up spending all nights at kadmat since my wife was doing here scuba course and we needed 5 days.

Kadmat takes 3 hours from agatti. Bangaram/ Thinakara take about 1 hour.

Sports can organise these for you. They are slow to respond - but it works in the end.

Also check my video in youtube here for some idea about the rooms in kadmat.

Have a good trip. Lakshadweep is heaven

Thank you very much Anton, for the information. It helps me go further now. I would write to SPORTS today and try and fix up the itinerary.

And I should say, the video is awesome. Very well taken. Very informative and compels the viewer to go for the trip. Thank you once again.
